Job description

We believe the pristine beauty of St. Tammany Parish adds to our attractive compensation package. The health system is nestled in the heart of Covington on the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain. It is a peaceful, scenic, community-oriented area with an abundance of amenities to suit every taste.
JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40
Work Shift: (Monday-Friday) 7:30 AM - 4 PM
Job Summary:
Procures quality supplies for Health System by entering into Workday system and using best procurement practices. Promotes the most efficient use of hospital funds for the various stages of purchase and management of supplies and equipment. Identifies cost savings and cost avoidances for all applicable departments and communicates with Department staff to perform product conversions. Communicates through various means on a daily basis with all levels of hospital and satellite staff and vendors.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School diploma, College graduate preferred.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in a hospital setting or formal training in Materials Management.
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Must have excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Must have the financial ability to calculate prices, discounts, credits and cost analyses.
  • Must possess initiative, good judgement, attention to detail and appropriate decision-making skills.
  • Must be able to source needed product when unavailable due to manufacturer backorder or discontinuance.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills to interact with vendors and all levels of hospital and satellite staff.
  • Knowledgeable on participating GPOs.

Physical Demands:
Must possess good physical health. Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time. Lifting at least 50 pounds is required. Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise.

Constant (67%-100%) - handling/feeling, talking, hearing, seeing
Frequently (34%-66%) - reaching
Occasionally (1%-33%) - lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, climbing (stairs, ladders, etc.), balancing, stooping, crouching
