Job description

Amazon's Transportation Risk and Compliance (TRC) Department of Transportation (DOT) team is looking for an experienced Senior Risk Manager to develop Amazon's transportation risk management, governance strategy, and policy lifecycle management for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Drug & Alcohol (D&A) program. This person will help lead Amazon's FMCSA D&A program, including assessing potential compliance risks and developing policies to execute our program, including potential service as Amazon's FMCSA Designated Employer Representative (DER). This leader will work with multiple Amazon businesses and their respective leaders to identify regulatory compliance business opportunities and risks proactively, and propose innovative approaches and risk mitigation strategies for solving them.
Key job responsibilities
Ensure Drug & Alcohol Testing compliance awareness, adherence and policy positions of Amazon's business models internally, within industry associations, and to other relevant external policy stakeholders.
Collaborate with vendors, stakeholders and business leaders to close identified program gaps.
Proactively work with business partners and stakeholders to identify changes in process and business direction and provide risk mitigation options regarding the Drug & Alcohol (D&A) program


Partner with Legal, Public Policy, Public Relations and business teams to identify regulatory, compliance, or other risks, interpret USDOT and FMCSA D&A regulations and guidance to ensure on-going compliance. Responsible for comprehensive knowledge of regulations, including 49 CFR part 40 and 14 CFR part 120.
Develop and lead the end-to-end risk management from risk identification to executive reporting, including guiding senior leadership on balancing risk management concerns and mitigations with business roadmaps.
Anticipate challenges/obstacles our transportation business could face as the global business and regulatory landscape evolves.
Communicate work in a concise, accurate, and professional manner to business partners and executives, including written communications and narratives.

The ideal candidate is a highly motivated self-starter that possesses flexibility and strong judgment to work in a fast-paced environment. They will lead complex cross-functional work requiring thorough analysis, effective escalation, and guidance to senior business partners supporting compliant transportation program operations and global growth

They will recommend program policies, processes, controls and mechanisms to mature compliance according to DOT regulations, guidance, and legislative mandates. They will be responsible for building strong partnerships with stakeholders and vendors, and will serve as a trusted advisor and transportation SME for our FMCSA D&A regulated programs.
