IT Senior Testing Lead

Summary:

The Senior Testing Lead is responsible for overseeing and advancing the client s enterprise testing strategy across all IT initiatives. This role ensures that testing practices are consistent, scalable, and aligned with organizational goals.

The Senior Testing Lead will operationalize the client s testing strategy by defining and enforcing standardized testing approaches, clarifying roles and responsibilities across tiered stakeholders, and ensuring that all testing objectives are met prior to deployment. This individual will work across infrastructure and application teams to improve coordination, reduce risk, and increase the quality and predictability of project delivery.

This role is ideal for an experienced professional who can balance strategic oversight with hands-on guidance, and who is comfortable working across multiple complex initiatives in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of client s enterprise testing strategy.
  • Establish and enforce standardized testing processes, guidelines, and procedures across all divisions.
  • Define and communicate clear testing roles and responsibilities across tiered stakeholders (project teams, business units, leadership).
  • Oversee testing activities across projects, including system integration testing (SIT), user acceptance testing (UAT), and regression testing.
  • Ensure alignment of testing efforts with project timelines, delivery milestones, and deployment readiness criteria.
  • Guide teams in identifying, documenting, prioritizing, and resolving defects and risks.
  • Standardize tools and practices for test management, defect tracking, and reporting.
  • Monitor testing progress and provide regular reporting on quality metrics, risks, and readiness to stakeholders.
  • Facilitate cross-team coordination to ensure consistent communication and issue resolution during testing phases.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, templates, and guidance to support repeatable testing practices.
  • Provide coaching and support to project teams to increase testing proficiency and adoption of best practices.
  • Partner with project managers, business analysts, and technical leads to integrate testing into the full system development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Continuously evaluate and refine the testing strategy based on lessons learned and evolving organizational needs.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 7 years of experience in software testing, quality assurance, or related roles.
  • Experience leading or coordinating testing efforts across multiple projects or teams.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of testing methodologies, including SIT, UAT, and regression testing.
  • Experience developing and implementing testing strategies, frameworks, or governance models.
  • Demonstrated ability to standardize processes across teams in a complex organization.
  • Experience with test management and defect tracking tools (e.g., Jira or similar platforms).
  • Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and coordinate across multiple initiatives.
  • Analytical mindset with a focus on risk identification, mitigation, and continuous improvement.
  • Experience in a large public-sector or local government environment preferred.
