Overview
The Professional Medical Coder III is a senior-level coding professional responsible for reviewing and abstracting clinical documentation to assign accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes for professional billing. Coders at this level demonstrate advanced knowledge of coding guidelines, payer policies, and specialty-specific documentation requirements. They may support multiple specialties and often act as a resource for peers, clinicians, and leadership.

If you and have any concerns about receiving these vaccines, medical and/or religious exemptions can be further discussed with Human Resources.
Responsibilities
  • Codes assigned accounts in accordance with the rules, regulations, and coding conventions set forth by AHA for ICD-CM and AMA for CPT.
  • Abstract patient data into the professional billing abstract within Epic.
  • Communicates with Clinicians by Creating Queries to Clarify and Improve Documentation

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or related field of study and 1-2 years experience Coding in a healthcare setting preferred or
  • Associate's Degree Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or related field of study and 3-5 years experience Coding in a healthcare setting preferred or
  • HS diploma or equivalent and 5-7 years experience Coding in a healthcare setting preferred
  • One of the following: Certified Professional Coder, Registered Health Information Technician, Certified Outpatient Coder, Certified Coding Specialist-Physician-based required upon hire

Starting Pay
Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $28.20/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.
