Remote Graphql information

What are some common challenges faced by Remote GraphQL developers, and how can they be managed effectively?

Remote GraphQL developers often encounter challenges related to communication and collaboration due to distributed team structures. Coordinating schema changes, ensuring consistency across services, and debugging complex queries can be more difficult without in-person meetings. To manage these challenges, it's important to establish clear documentation practices, participate in regular virtual stand-ups, and use collaborative tools like version control and API documentation platforms. Proactively reaching out to team members and leveraging asynchronous communication channels can also help maintain alignment and productivity.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote GraphQL Developer, and why are they important?

A Remote GraphQL Developer needs strong proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript, experience with GraphQL APIs, and a solid grasp of web development fundamentals, often backed by a degree in computer science or related field. Familiarity with tools like Apollo, Relay, and version control systems such as Git, as well as cloud platforms, is typically expected. Excellent communication, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently are crucial soft skills for remote collaboration and project delivery. These skills ensure efficient API development, seamless integration with client applications, and effective teamwork across distributed environments.

What is a Remote GraphQL Developer?

A Remote GraphQL Developer is a software engineer who specializes in building and maintaining APIs using the GraphQL query language, while working from a location outside of a traditional office setting. Their primary responsibilities include designing GraphQL schemas, creating resolvers, integrating data sources, and ensuring the API's performance and security. Remote GraphQL Developers collaborate with frontend and backend teams through online communication tools to deliver efficient and scalable APIs for web and mobile applications.

What is the difference between Remote Graphql vs Remote Backend Developer?

AspectRemote GraphqlRemote Backend Developer
Required CredentialsKnowledge of GraphQL, JavaScript/TypeScript, API designKnowledge of server-side languages (e.g., Node.js, Python), databases, API development
Work EnvironmentPrimarily focused on API schema design, query optimization, and data fetchingBroader backend tasks including server setup, database management, and API integration
Industry UsageUsed in companies implementing GraphQL for data fetchingUsed across various industries for server-side application development
Search & Comparison IntentOften compared for specialization in GraphQL technologyCompared for broader backend development roles

Remote Graphql specialists focus on designing and optimizing GraphQL APIs, while Remote Backend Developers handle a wider range of server-side tasks. Both roles require backend knowledge, but GraphQL roles are more specialized in API query language, making them distinct in scope and skill set.

Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a DOTNetCore Developers based in Netherlands.

This role is designed for an experienced software engineer specializing in .NET Core development and distributed systems architecture.
You will contribute to designing, building, and integrating secure, scalable platforms that support complex enterprise environments.
The position requires strong expertise in API development, system architecture, and modern software engineering practices.
You will work on solutions involving REST, gRPC, event-driven architectures, and advanced security-focused platforms.
Your technical leadership will help shape reliable systems while collaborating across engineering and product teams.
This is an opportunity to solve challenging engineering problems and build impactful solutions in a high-performance technology environment.

Accountabilities:

As a DOTNetCore Developer, you will design, develop, and maintain sophisticated software systems while contributing to architecture decisions and technical improvements. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise-grade applications using .NET Core and modern software engineering practices.
  • Building and modeling APIs, integrations, and distributed system components across multiple platforms.
  • Designing and implementing secure, scalable APIs using technologies such as REST, GraphQL, gRPC, and OpenAPI standards.
  • Developing solutions that integrate with corporate management systems and complex enterprise environments.
  • Contributing to architecture design, domain-driven design practices, and system modeling initiatives.
  • Building and maintaining security-focused platform components, including control planes and policy-driven workflows.
  • Working with event-driven technologies such as Kafka, Kinesis, or Pub/Sub to support scalable architectures.
  • Designing resilient systems with strong attention to reliability, failure handling, monitoring, and operational readiness.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.
  • Supporting continuous improvement of development practices, architecture standards, and technical documentation.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate is a senior software engineer with deep expertise in .NET Core, distributed systems, and enterprise application development. You should have strong architectural experience, excellent problem-solving abilities, and experience building secure, scalable solutions. Key qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with significant ownership of architecture, modeling, and distributed systems design.
  • Strong expertise in .NET Core, including framework internals, design patterns, and application architecture.
  • Proven experience designing and implementing APIs using REST, GraphQL, gRPC, and related technologies.
  • Experience building integrations with enterprise and corporate management systems.
  • Strong understanding of secure software design, system resilience, and operational best practices.
  • Experience with event streaming technologies such as Kafka, Kinesis, or Pub/Sub.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to address complex technical challenges.
  • Experience with security platforms, SOAR systems, ZTNA solutions, or secure system architecture is highly valuable.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, DevOps practices, or front-end integration patterns is a plus.
  • Experience designing high-scale or regulated systems is an advantage.

Benefits:

  • Fully remote work opportunity with flexibility and autonomy.
  • Opportunity to work on complex enterprise software and security-focused platforms.
  • Exposure to modern technologies including .NET Core, distributed systems, APIs, and cloud-native architectures.
  • Ability to influence technical architecture and contribute to impactful engineering solutions.
  • Collaboration with experienced engineers on challenging, high-scale projects.
  • Opportunity to expand expertise in secure software development and advanced system design.
  • Flexible and innovative work environment focused on engineering excellence.
