This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Software Engineer - PHP, TypeScript, Node.js based in Netherlands.

Accountabilities

You will take ownership of complex engineering initiatives, designing and delivering high-quality software while contributing to technical excellence across the organization. Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable, reliable, and maintainable software solutions aligned with engineering best practices.
  • Build and optimize distributed systems, cloud-native services, and scalable data processing solutions.
  • Own technical initiatives from initial design through implementation, monitoring, debugging, and continuous improvement.
  • Improve system reliability through effective monitoring, observability, automated health checks, and alerting solutions.
  • Drive improvements in engineering standards, code quality, maintainability, and development processes.
  • Break down large technical challenges into incremental deliverables that enable efficient execution and fast iteration.
  • Collaborate closely with Product and Design teams to understand customer needs and deliver solutions with measurable impact.
  • Make thoughtful technical decisions by balancing customer value, delivery speed, engineering quality, and long-term scalability.
  • Contribute to architecture discussions and help shape technical solutions within your engineering squad.
  • Mentor other engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, onboarding support, and knowledge sharing.
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and technical excellence.
  • Work proactively across teams to solve ambiguous problems and contribute to broader engineering initiatives.
  • Use AI-assisted development tools and modern workflows to improve implementation, testing, debugging, documentation, and code quality.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an experienced software engineer with strong technical foundations, a product mindset, and the ability to independently solve complex engineering challenges. The required qualifications and skills include:

  • Significant experience building and operating production software in modern product engineering environments.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals with experience designing scalable and distributed systems.
  • Hands-on experience developing backend applications using PHP (Symfony), Node.js, and TypeScript.
  • Experience working with frontend technologies such as Angular (TypeScript) is considered an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of modern data architectures, scalable data pipelines, and distributed storage solutions.
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure, messaging systems, infrastructure automation, and containerized environments.
  • Knowledge of AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, Helm, and cloud-native service architectures.
  • Experience with databases and data technologies such as PostgreSQL, Redis, and MongoDB.
  • Strong understanding of observability, monitoring, debugging, and operating production systems at scale.
  • Experience with automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, continuous delivery, and engineering best practices.
  • Ability to independently solve complex technical problems while keeping customer and business outcomes in mind.
