AI Product Engineer

On-site, Remote

Full-time

Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a AI Product Engineer based in Netherlands.

This role offers the opportunity to build next-generation AI-powered software solutions that transform how businesses interact with their operational systems.
You will work at the intersection of product development, engineering, and artificial intelligence to create autonomous agent-driven experiences.
The position involves designing and building production-grade AI systems that connect business tools, automate workflows, and simplify complex processes.
Working closely with technical and product leadership, you will have ownership over architecture decisions, product direction, and execution.
This is a high-impact opportunity for an engineer who enjoys solving ambiguous problems, experimenting with emerging AI technologies, and shipping innovative products.
You will contribute to shaping an AI-native platform while working in a remote, collaborative, and fast-moving environment.

Accountabilities

The AI Product Engineer will take ownership of building and scaling an agentic product from the ground up, combining strong engineering skills with product thinking. This role requires the ability to design complex AI systems, make strategic technical decisions, and deliver reliable solutions that create meaningful business value.

  • Architect and build a production-ready multi-agent system capable of securely interacting with business tools such as ERP platforms, CRMs, spreadsheets, calendars, email systems, analytics tools, and compliance solutions.
  • Develop and maintain Model Context Protocol (MCP) integrations that connect AI agents with real-world business systems.
  • Own end-to-end production system requirements, including reliability, observability, permissions, security, and safe workflow execution.
  • Build AI-powered product experiences using technologies such as LangGraph, Next.js, React, Prisma, and Claude Code.
  • Act as both an engineer and product owner by defining product scope, prioritizing features, evaluating trade-offs, and driving execution with minimal oversight.
  • Design solutions with a strong user-focused mindset, ensuring technical decisions translate into intuitive and valuable customer experiences.
  • Identify technical risks, product challenges, and opportunities early while proposing structured solutions.
  • Stay current with advancements in AI ecosystems, agent frameworks, orchestration approaches, and emerging standards.
  • Experiment with new AI development tools and approaches to continuously improve product capabilities and engineering workflows.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, product, and design teams to align AI initiatives with broader business objectives.
Requirements

The ideal candidate is an experienced full-stack engineer with a strong understanding of AI systems, product development, and scalable software architecture. This role requires someone who can operate independently, navigate ambiguity, and combine technical excellence with a strong ownership mindset.

  • 5+ years of full-stack development experience, ideally building B2B SaaS applications.
  • Proven hands-on experience building and deploying multi-agent AI systems in production environments.
  • Experience creating and maintaining Model Context Protocol (MCP) integrations used in real-world applications.
  • Strong understanding of production engineering principles, including reliability, observability, permissions, security, and workflow execution.
  • Ability to operate across both engineering and product responsibilities, including defining requirements, making decisions, and managing priorities.
  • Strong proficiency with modern technologies such as React, TypeScript, Node.js, PostgreSQL, GraphQL, and LangGraph.
  • Ability to quickly learn and apply new frameworks, tools, and emerging AI technologies.
  • Experience working in early-stage startup environments with small engineering teams and high levels of ownership.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in ambiguous, fast-changing environments.
  • Low-ego, collaborative mindset focused on delivering impactful products rather than internal processes.
  • Clear and proactive communication skills, with the ability to raise concerns and suggest solutions independently.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience building products in supply chain, ERP, CRM, B2B marketplaces, accounting software, or operational technology environments.
  • Experience with UX design and user-centered product development.
  • Familiarity with advanced agentic systems, multi-agent orchestration, evaluation frameworks, or agent-to-agent protocols.
  • Experience using Claude Code or similar AI development tools.
  • Previous experience in the cannabis technology industry is a plus.
Benefits
  • Fully remote work environment with flexibility to work from anywhere.
  • Opportunity to build innovative AI products from the ground up with significant ownership and impact.
  • Direct collaboration with technical leadership and involvement in strategic product decisions.
  • Chance to work on cutting-edge AI technologies and emerging agent-based systems.
  • High level of autonomy with the ability to influence architecture, product direction, and execution.
  • Work within a global, collaborative, and mission-driven team.
  • Opportunity to contribute to the future of AI-native business software.
  • Inclusive workplace culture focused on respect, trust, and diverse perspectives.
  • Stable and growth-oriented environment with investment in new product development.
