SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER - SOUTHWEST MISSOURI

We are seeking an elite Senior Project Manager to lead commercial construction projects across Southwest Missouri. This role serves as both a project leader and business steward for the organization. The Senior Project Manager oversees project profitability, strategic planning, risk mitigation, and client relationships while ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards

In addition to managing projects, this position provides leadership and mentorship to superintendents, project managers, assistant project managers, and project support staff. The Senior Project Manager also serves as a primary point of contact for owners, architects, and key stakeholders, representing the company with professionalism, accountability, and sound business judgment.

Responsibilities

Executive Team Leadership

  • Assume full ownership of project financial performance, including cost control, forecasting, and overall profitability.
  • Lead strategic planning for assigned projects, including budgeting, scheduling strategy, procurement planning, and risk assessment.
  • Direct complex contract negotiations, change order strategy, and dispute resolution when necessary.
  • Provide oversight of project execution from preconstruction through closeout, ensuring alignment with contractual obligations and company standards.
  • Lead monthly cost forecasting, margin analysis, and financial reporting for assigned projects.
  • Collaborate with company leadership to ensure projects support overall business objectives.

Business & Client Communication

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with owners, architects, consultants, and key project stakeholders.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and executive point of contact for project clients.
  • Support business development initiatives, including project pursuits, preconstruction strategy, and delivery planning.
  • Identify opportunities for value engineering, cost efficiencies, and improved project outcomes.
  • Assist leadership in negotiating prime contracts and establishing project delivery strategies.

Operational Leadership

  • Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive project management plans.
  • Ensure project teams effectively utilize company systems, such as Procore, and established document control platforms.
  • Partner closely with superintendents to maintain schedule integrity and alignment between field operations and project management.
  • Oversee procurement strategy, including subcontractor selection, long-lead material planning, and contract execution.
  • Establish clear expectations for project documentation, reporting, and operational performance.

Team Leadership

  • Support the development of future project leaders through coaching, mentorship, and performance feedback, of direct reports.
  • Help build and maintain high-performing teams aligned with company values and operational standards.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
  • Assist leadership in identifying talent development opportunities and succession planning.

Risk, Quality, & Safety Leadership

  • Ensure strict adherence to safety standards, ethical practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee implementation of project quality control plans and ensure compliance with contract documents and specifications.
  • Identify project risks early and implement mitigation strategies to minimize financial and operational exposure.
  • Ensure subcontractors and project teams maintain compliance with OSHA standards and company safety protocols.
  • Lead post-project evaluations and lessons-learned sessions to continuously improve project delivery practices.
Qualifications

Qualifications

Minimum of 10 years of experience in commercial construction project management.

Bachelor's degree in construction-related field or equivalent work experience.

OSHA 30 certification required, or the ability to obtain it promptly.

Strong communication, leadership, and executive-level decision-making skills.

Experience

Demonstrated experience managing large-scale commercial or multifamily construction projects from preconstruction   through closeout.

Proven ability to manage project financial performance, scheduling strategy, and risk mitigation.

Strong understanding of construction contracts, change management processes, and cost control practices.

Experience leading and mentoring project management teams.

Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office Suite, and modern construction technology platforms.

Working Environment

This role will primarily be in an office environment based in our Springfield, Missouri headquarters, or at the job site. Assigned projects may require the Project Manager to be on-site for extended durations, and occasional travel is to be expected.

Physical Requirements:

Standing and Walking: ~20%

Sitting and Desk Work: ~80%
