Job description

Senior Property & Project Accountant | $80,000 to $100,000 + Bonus/Benefits
Location: Minneapolis (Hybrid)


We are partnering with a growing real estate organization to add a Senior Property & Project Accountant to their team. This role offers a unique blend of traditional property accounting and project level exposure, supporting both stabilized assets and active development initiatives. The position provides strong visibility across accounting, operations, and leadership, making it an ideal opportunity for someone looking to expand beyond standard close responsibilities.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage full cycle accounting for a portfolio of real estate assets, including monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
  • Prepare and review financial statements, variance analysis, and supporting schedules for assigned properties
  • Partner with property management and operations teams to ensure accurate reporting and budgeting alignment
  • Support project and construction accounting, including tracking project costs, capital expenditures, and development budgets
  • Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts, including cash, accruals, and fixed assets
  • Assist with job cost tracking, WIP schedules, and project level reporting for development activities
  • Coordinate with external auditors and support audit and tax deliverables
  • Drive process improvements and help enhance reporting, controls, and efficiencies across the accounting function


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 3+ years of accounting experience, ideally within real estate, property accounting, or construction/project accounting
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
  • Experience with property accounting systems such as Yardi, MRI, or similar platforms is preferred
  • Exposure to construction or project accounting, including job costing or capital projects, is highly desirable
  • Advanced Excel skills and ability to analyze and interpret financial data
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to partner cross functionally
