Senior Project Accountant

Irvine,CA, US

Salary: $80,000 - $110,000 per year

Job Details

This role owns job cost accounting and billing for assigned projects and partners closely with project management.

Responsibilities
  • Set up and maintain job budgets, cost codes, and contract records in the accounting system
  • Prepare monthly progress billings, AIA applications for payment, and supporting lien waivers
  • Track and post job costs including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor invoices
  • Prepare and review the work in progress schedule, including revenue recognition and over and under billings
  • Process subcontractor pay applications, verify insurance and compliance documents, and manage retention
  • Prepare job cost reports and analyze budget to actual variances with project managers
  • Process and track change orders, contract modifications, and their effect on job forecasts
  • Support project closeout including final billing, retention release, and cost reconciliation
  • Assist with month-end close entries, account reconciliations, and audit requests
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience in construction
  • Experience with job cost accounting, progress billing, and AIA billing formats
  • Working knowledge of work in progress schedules and percentage of completion revenue recognition
  • Experience managing subcontractor compliance, lien waivers, and retention
  • Strong Excel skills and experience with construction accounting software such as Sage 300 CRE, Viewpoint, or Procore
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
