Job description

As a Senior Analyst in the Credit Risk Analytics team at National Bank, you’ll be responsible for the IFRS-9 reporting and analytics, and model performance monitoring. This job allows you to have a positive impact on our organization thanks to your knowledge of IFRS-9 and regulatory requirements, experience in credit risk modelling, and ability to transform complex data into useful insights for decision-making.


Your role


• Operate and maintain IFRS-9 expected credit loss reporting processes to produce timely, accurate, and well-controlled results.

• Validate process inputs and outputs, ensuring quality control, governance, and reliable documentation.

• Conduct risk analytics and analyze IFRS-9 results, identify key drivers of risk movements, and prepare materials for internal stakeholders, external auditors, and regulators.

• Assess the impact of parameter recalibrations, economic scenario changes, model updates, data migrations, and process changes.

• Develop, monitor, and improve IFRS-9 and stress testing models, including backtesting, performance monitoring, and recommending appropriate model actions.

• Automate and optimize reporting processes, including the use of artificial intelligence tools, while contributing to strategic risk initiatives and recommendations to limit risk.

Within the Credit Risk Analytics department, you are part of a team of 25 colleagues and report to the Senior Director. Our team stands out for its expertise in risk reporting, model implementation, and model development in IFRS-9, stress testing, and capital areas. We offer a wide range of ongoing learning opportunities for your development, including coaching, hands-on learning, training courses and through the collaborating with colleagues who have varied expertise and profiles such as in-depth data analytics, model development, risk programming, and presentation to senior management.

Requirements


• Hold a master’s degree in a relevant field such as financial engineering, finance, economics, statistics, mathematics, computer science, or data science.

• Have 2 to 3 years of professional experience in risk management; previous risk reporting experience in Canada is an asset.

• Have hands-on experience managing, reconciling, and interpreting large and complex enterprise-level data sets; demonstrate strong attention to details. 

• Demonstrate ability to work under pressure and tight deadline, exceptional critical thinking skills and learning skills, and knowledge of IFRS-9 and regulatory requirements.

• Have hands-on experience with SAS/SQL, Microsoft Excel, VBA, Python.

• Have completed or be progressing toward the CFA, FRM, or SAS certification; knowledge of artificial intelligence or machine learning is an asset.
