Job description


VENTEON and Harvard Resource Solutions are hiring a Senior Payroll Manager to provide support in the Auburn Hills, MI area. This is a strategic position, and the person will be responsible for oversight and guidance of the payroll processing team, supporting the accounting aspects of payroll along with payroll and payroll tax compliance.

This is a high-profile position with the company.


POSITION TYPE: Full time Direct Hire. Onsite daily. Salary, PTO, and benefits package provided.


Requirements of the Senior Payroll Manager:

  • Bachelor degree is strongly desired. Equivalent experience will also be considered.
  • Minimum 8 years of payroll experience that includes high volume, multistate, union, and non-union payroll.
  • Construction or contracting industry would be a plus.
  • Strong experience managing payroll teams required.
  • Knowledgeable in Payroll accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll laws, regulations, taxes, and union reporting requirements.
  • Ability to lead day-to-day operations and manage escalated issues.


Duties of the Senior Payroll Manager:

  • Collaborate directly with company management to develop strategic initiatives to meet company objectives and continuously improve payroll operations.
  • Direct Payroll Managers and processing team performing day-to-day payroll operations.
  • Train, motivate and evaluate employees. Delegate work appropriately.
  • Analyze payroll tax filings including 940/941 to ensure compliance.
  • Oversee union related activities such as application of labor agreements, compensation, reporting, and layoffs.
  • Support Accounting with payroll related general ledger reconciliations.
  • Take part in year end activities such as W/2 production, year-end bonuses, updating tax tables, updating deduction limits, and making any changes based on updated labor agreements.
  • Generate payroll reports and data for internal needs, for third party administrators, and to support audits.
  • Take care of escalated issues or concerns. Ensure proper employee and union relations.
  • Take part in system implementations and technology updates.
  • Complete ongoing and special projects.
