Job description

You've discovered something special. A company that cares. Cares about leading the way in construction, engineering, manufacturing and renewable energy. Cares about redefining how energy is designed, applied and consumed. Cares about thoughtfully growing to meet market demands. And as "one of the Healthiest 100 Workplaces in America" is focused on the mind/body/soul of team members through our Culture of Care.

The Sr Operations Finance Manager is a key financial leader and strategic business partner to the Excellerate Leadership team. This role is responsible for translating complex financial, operational, and project performance information into clear insights, practical recommendations, and action-oriented decisions that improve profitability, cash flow, operational execution, and long-term scalability across Excellerate's manufacturing facilities.

This leader will serve as the primary finance partner for the Excellerate business unit while also working closely with other FTI business units to support efficient intercompany operations and end-to-end project execution. This role requires a strong understanding of engineered-to-order manufacturing, modular fabrication, industrial construction, project accounting, standard costing, and revenue recognition. A primary near-term focus will be leading the financial architecture, controls, and policy transformation from a construction percent-complete revenue model to a manufacturing milestone-based revenue recognition model within the new ERP environment. The Finance Manager will build and develop a team of on-site finance partners and analysts, establish scalable reporting and KPI frameworks, support pipeline and capacity planning, and create financial visibility that helps executives, operational leaders, and the broader Excellerate organization make informed decisions. Success in this role requires deep relationships with leadership, strong executive presence, clear communication, and the ability to simplify complex financial information for audiences at all levels.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field required; MBA, CMA, or CPA preferred.

Experience: 10+ years of progressive finance leadership experience, preferably in industrial construction, modular fabrication, engineered-to-order manufacturing, heavy manufacturing, or a comparable project-based manufacturing environment.

Travel: 15-25%

Work Schedule: Typical work hours are between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday - Friday. Ability to work a flexible schedule is necessary.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Revenue Recognition Governance & Compliance: Lead the design and implementation of ASC 606-compliant revenue recognition policies for a hybrid ETO, modular construction, and component manufacturing environment. Define clear, auditable milestone criteria such as engineering release, production completion, shipment, commissioning, energization, and customer acceptance to ensure revenue recognition aligns with contract terms and physical progress.
  • Cross-Divisional Financial Strategy: Partner with manufacturing, construction, commercial, supply chain, and finance leaders to optimize transfer pricing, total cost of delivery, margin allocation, and intercompany processes. Drive decisions that reduce siloed thinking and maximize total FTI profitability.
  • Contract Integration & Alignment: Partner with Commercial, Legal, Pre-Production, Project Operations, and business unit leadership to structure contracts with clear financial terms, milestone definitions, billing requirements, escalation provisions, and risk-sharing expectations. Ensure manufacturing milestones align with downstream installation, integration, and customer delivery requirements.
  • Strategic Leadership & Business Partnership: Serve as a trusted advisor to the Manufacturing Executive Leadership team by connecting financial performance to operational strategy, capacity planning, facility expansion, capital investment, workforce planning, and long-range growth initiatives.
  • ERP Architecture, Controls & Reporting: Lead finance input into ERP design, process ownership, reporting structure, and control development. Ensure the system supports milestone tracking, project cost visibility, inventory and finished goods reporting, deferred revenue logic, billing triggers, forecasting, and standardized management reporting while reducing manual work and month-end adjustments.
  • Cost Modeling & Lifecycle Profitability: Develop costing models that connect engineering decisions, production quality, labor efficiency, material flow, logistics, and field installation impacts. Identify where design, fabrication, or process decisions create downstream cost, schedule, margin, or cash flow risk.
  • Commercial, Estimating & Pre-Production Support: Partner with estimating, commercial, engineering, procurement, and pre-production teams to evaluate bid completeness, margin expectations, contract risk, customer requirements, escalation exposure, pricing frameworks, and capacity assumptions before work is committed.
  • Operational Profitability & Performance Management: Establish and manage KPIs that connect shop-floor performance, labor efficiency, throughput, quality, schedule adherence, working capital, cash flow, and margin performance. Create financial visibility that enables leaders to identify risks early, prioritize action, and improve execution across all facilities.
  • Facility Overhead & Expense Management: Own financial oversight of facility overhead, indirect labor, operating expenses, and shared manufacturing support costs across Excellerate's facilities. Establish budgets, forecasts, cost controls, variance analysis, and reporting routines that help leaders manage spending, understand cost drivers, protect margin, and maintain accountability for efficient facility operations.
  • Communication, Change Management & Financial Literacy: Champion change by helping leaders and teams understand what the financial results mean, why they matter, and what actions are needed. Convey complex financial and operational data into simple, practical insights for executives, operational leaders, project teams, and plant-level audiences.
  • SIOP, Forecasting & Capacity Alignment: Partner with Supply Chain, Operations, Commercial, and Finance teams to align sales and operations planning with financial forecasting, backlog visibility, working capital, labor planning, inventory strategy, and facility capacity utilization.
  • Team Leadership & Talent Development: Build, lead, coach, and scale a high-performing Excellerate finance team. Establish clear roles, repeatable processes, development plans, and a culture of accountability, curiosity, service, and continuous improvement.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
