Description
Integrion Automation (formally Wauseon Machine) is a leading provider of custom automation solutions specializing in robotic systems, industrial automation, and custom machine design. We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our growing engineering team located in our Wauseon, Ohio facility. This is a full-time, onsite position.
The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for leading the design and development of custom automated manufacturing equipment from concept through installation and validation. This role is responsible for the conceptualization, mechanical design, engineering analysis, fabrication support, assembly, and commissioning of custom machinery, robotic work cells, fixtures, and industrial automation systems that meet customer requirements for performance, quality, safety, and manufacturability.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineering professional with strong machine design expertise, a passion for solving complex engineering challenges, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
โ€ข Design Development: Create conceptual and final designs for robotic automation systems and industrial machine tools, leveraging SolidWorks for 3D modeling and assemblies. Ensure that designs meet customer specifications and internal requirements. Own all mechanical designs, including debug, troubleshooting, and redesign, regardless of initial designer, to ensure project success.
โ€ข Project Leadership: Direct all Mechanical Engineering disciplines on automation projects and lead a team of Mechanical Engineers on large projects.
โ€ข Cross Department Collaboration: Work closely with departments such as controls, operations, and safety to gather inputs and deliver effective automation solutions.
โ€ข Machine Safety Risk Assessments: Lead and drive the development of safety risk assessments for automation systems and machine tools, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
โ€ข Control System Development: Collaborate with Controls Engineers to develop comprehensive Sequence of Events (SOE) and timing charts for automated systems and machinery.
โ€ข Concept and Design Reviews: Lead internal reviews of design concepts and final designs with internal teams and end customers to ensure project alignment and resolve technical issues.
โ€ข Documentation and Manufacturing Support: Generate and manage all necessary project documentation (e.g., prints, bills of materials) and release them to manufacturing and purchasing departments. Support the construction, assembly, and testing phases of projects. Maintain task status on mechanical engineering checklists, including APP process and design checklists, to ensure project alignment."
โ€ข Project Execution: Monitor project progress, ensuring that designs are executed within scope, on time, and within budget.
