What You'll Do 
As a Technical Writer, you'll create the work instructions, training materials, quality documentation, and process standards that help employees perform their work safely, consistently, and efficiently. You'll collaborate with engineers, manufacturing teams, quality professionals, and subject matter experts to translate complex technical processes into easy-to-understand learning materials and controlled documentation. 


In this role, you will: 

  • Develop and maintain work instructions, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), process documentation, and training materials 
  • Create instructional content that supports employee onboarding, skills development, and knowledge retention 
  • Develop user guides, presentations, job aids, videos, and other learning resources for manufacturing employees 
  • Translate complex manufacturing processes into clear, user-friendly documentation 
  • Observe manufacturing processes to understand workflows and identify opportunities for improved documentation and standardized work 
  • Interview subject matter experts to capture best practices and technical knowledge 
  • Maintain document control and ensure documentation remains current, accurate, and accessible 
  • Support quality management systems by developing and updating controlled documentation 
  • Assist with documentation supporting ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 quality management requirements 
  • Collaborate with Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Training teams to improve documentation and employee learning 
  • Incorporate photographs, diagrams, flowcharts, and visual aids to improve comprehension and engagement 
  • Review and revise documentation to support process improvements, quality initiatives, and operational excellence 
  • Help standardize documentation practices across departments 
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to improve training, quality documentation, and standardized work 

Requirements

We're looking for someone who enjoys helping others succeed through clear communication, organized documentation, and continuous improvement. This position is an excellent fit for professionals with backgrounds in education, training, instructional design, quality assurance, document control, or technical writing


Minimum Qualifications 

  • Two (2) or more years of experience in technical writing, instructional design, curriculum development, quality documentation, document control, training content creation, or process documentation 
  • Exceptional writing, editing, proofreading, and formatting skills 
  • Ability to simplify technical information into clear, easy-to-follow work instructions and learning materials 
  • Experience creating documentation that supports operational consistency and employee performance 
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook 
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize competing deadlines 
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • A Bachelor's degree in a related field 
  • Teaching, instructional design, adult learning, curriculum development, or corporate training experience 
  • Experience with quality control, document control, or Quality Management Systems (QMS) 
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or other quality management standards 
  • Experience supporting manufacturing, engineering, or industrial operations 
  • Experience creating controlled documents, work instructions, inspection procedures, or quality manuals 
  • Portfolio demonstrating instructional materials, technical documentation, quality documentation, or educational content 

Your Work Schedule 

This is a full-time, non-exempt position working Monday through Friday. You'll primarily work in an office environment, with regular opportunities to spend time on the manufacturing floor collaborating with employees, observing processes, and ensuring documentation accurately reflects real-world operations.
