Job description

Overview:
Responsible for all aspects of an assigned problem Equipment Finance loan portfolio with group credits of varying sizes up to $10 mm, to protect the Bank against losses and to ensure an effective and efficient outcome. Administers the turnaround or exit of more complex credit relationships through restructurings and forbearance agreements which may include providing ongoing financing or liquidating the borrower. May assist in specific portfolio responsibility for larger and/or more complex workout or non-workout deals.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Obtain, spread, and analyze borrower and guarantor financial statements, projections and 13-week cash flows to measure and monitor the customers' performance and adherence to covenants within existing governing documents and underwrite any restructurings or forbearance agreements. Prepare debt service overlays to measure customer ability to pay future maturing term obligations.
  • Assist in coordinating monthly portfolio review to ensure appropriate risk grading, accrual status, progress with workout transactions; maintain all updated collateral values and recommend charge-off processing.
  • Measure and recommend probability of default and loss given default upgrades and downgrades. Prepare and submit risk rating change forms to senior management as required to ensure proper rating. Measure and test covenant compliance in accordance with customer loan documentation; in cases of failed tests, negotiate resolution with customers with management approval.
  • Work with internal and external counsel as appropriate to resolve certain defaults throughout the oversight of a relationship.
  • Present and discuss all eligible relationships along with action plans to senior management in regular strategy meetings. Run established internal and external delinquency reports as required.
  • May manage a portfolio of fully charged-off loans and leases to recover funds through legal means with the support of outside counsel.
  • Work closely with other department personnel, financial institutions, insurance companies, turnaround consultants, and vendors that may be relied upon to provide information on the portfolio.
  • Represent the Bank in civic and community activities.
  • Understand and adhere to the Company's risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls in accordance with the Company's Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
  • Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Management, or related field and a minimum of 3 years' workout and/or credit experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 7 years' higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 3 years' workout and/or credit experience

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $91,100.00 - $151,800.00 Annual (USD). The successful candidate's particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
