Job description

Job Title: Material Coordinator II
Department: Inventory
Reports to: Supply Chain Manager
Position Summary:
The Material Coordinator II plays a more advanced and strategic role compared to the Material Coordinator I, taking on additional responsibilities related to the coordination and optimization of material flow within the production environment. This role ensures the timely and efficient movement, tracking, and documentation of materials while working closely with multiple departments. The Material Coordinator II provides oversight on more complex tasks such as process improvements, advanced inventory analysis, and leading small projects. In addition, this role actively collaborates on inventory strategy, material forecasting, and waste reduction initiatives to ensure that production processes run seamlessly.
Duties/Responsibilities:
โ€ข Advanced Material Management & Distribution:
o Coordinate the timely delivery and allocation of materials to production pods, ensuring stock levels are maintained for optimal production flow.
o Lead cross-departmental efforts to streamline material transfer and storage, identifying and resolving bottlenecks in material handling.
o Validate and reconcile complex inbound material transfers, ensuring compliance with production requirements and specifications.
โ€ข Inventory Control, Audits, & Accuracy:
o Oversee regular cycle counts and manage more advanced inventory reconciliation tasks.
o Conduct deeper analysis on inventory discrepancies, collaborating with production, procurement, and warehouse teams to troubleshoot issues and resolve inconsistencies.
o Implement and monitor advanced inventory control measures, ensuring compliance with both internal SOPs and state regulations regarding raw material management.
โ€ข Production Support & Waste Minimization:
o Collaborate with production leaders on material forecasting, ensuring that necessary stock is available for current and future production needs.
o Track and evaluate production waste metrics, providing recommendations for process improvements and waste reduction strategies.
o Communicate regularly with management regarding material usage trends, waste patterns, and potential improvements for future production cycles.
โ€ข Data Reporting, Analysis & Improvement:
o Maintain detailed data on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for material usage, waste, and efficiency, producing advanced reports for senior management.
o Analyze data to recommend improvements to inventory and material handling processes, including suggestions for automation or process optimization.
โ€ข Leadership & Process Development:
o Mentor and train junior Material Coordinators on material handling best practices, proper documentation, and software utilization.
o Assist in developing new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for material tracking, handling, and reporting to optimize operational efficiency and accuracy.
Required Skills/Abilities:
โ€ข Advanced Attention to Detail: Expertise in maintaining accuracy and consistency in material handling and documentation.
โ€ข Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and train junior staff.
โ€ข Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of ERP, WMS, and other advanced inventory tracking software; proficient in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
โ€ข Problem-Solving: Advanced ability to identify complex discrepancies in inventory and material usage and implement effective solutions.
โ€ข Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of collaborating across departments and providing clear, data-driven reports to management.
โ€ข Compliance & Process Improvement Knowledge: Deep understanding of state regulations related to material management and internal processes for process optimization.
Education and Experience:
โ€ข High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
โ€ข 3+ years of experience in inventory control or material coordination, with a focus on process improvements and advanced reporting responsibilities.
โ€ข Experience with ERP, WMS, or other inventory management systems is required.
โ€ข Valid Driver's License required.
โ€ข Experience leading small projects or training teams is highly desirable.
Physical Requirements:
โ€ข Ability to stand, crouch, and lift up to 60 lbs. unassisted throughout a standard workday.
โ€ข Capability to work in a fast-paced production environment and perform physically demanding tasks.
