Position Summary:
Reef is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to support the accounting and reporting functions across a complex portfolio of joint venture investment entities. This role will oversee accounting operations for multiple private equity investment structures, including private equity, real estate, and general joint ventures
The ideal candidate will bring strong technical fund accounting expertise, experience working within multi-entity investment structures, and a deep understanding of GP/LP allocations, blockers, feeders, and investor reporting.
Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Close
  • Lead month-end close and prepare monthly financial statements and supporting workpapers
  • Maintain accrual-based financial records
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and budget-to-actual analysis
  • Partner with leadership on the financial health and performance of assigned entities
  • Prepare year-end financial statements, tax reporting, and audit support schedules
  • Deliver ad hoc reporting and data summaries as needed

Accounting Operations
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, and general ledger activity
  • Review and approve transactions, journal entries, and reconciliations
  • Manage compliance requests related to tax, audit, and insurance
  • Stand up accounting operations for new ventures
  • Lead transitions of accounting functions between internal and external teams

Process Improvement & Automation
  • Design and implement accounting procedures and internal controls
  • Lead accounting software implementations and system conversions
  • Identify and drive automation opportunities to improve efficiency

Team Leadership & Training
  • Train and mentor staff accountants and interns
  • Document processes and operating procedures
  • Plan workload, delegate tasks, and manage transitions
  • Support interviewing and onboarding of new hires

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • CPA designation strongly preferred and effectively required for success in the role
  • 3-5 years of relevant fund accounting experience, preferably within private equity settings
  • Strong understanding of joint venture structures, including multi-entity arrangements, blockers, feeders, and GP/LP allocations
  • Experience preparing and reviewing NAV calculations, investor capital accounts, financial statements, and audit support materials
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and familiarity with GAAP reporting requirements
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and organization
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across internal and external stakeholders
