Job description

The Senior Accountant will assist with GL focused accounting activities for US Distribution including payroll, balance sheet accruals, rental revenue recognition, and various journal entries & reconciliations. This role will report to the Sr. Accounting Manager and help ensure that US Distribution is in full compliance with all corporate policies.  

Role Responsibilities

  •  Responsible for US Distribution payroll activities including journal entries (actuals, accruals, worker's comp, sick time, etc.), account reconciliations, and communication with the payroll team to resolve issues as needed.
  • Journal entry and account reconciliation preparation to ensure accurate GL activity including but not limited to SG&A / COS reclass, admin allocations, WIP, GDNI, bad debt, and COSA accruals. Additionally, review and approve journal entries and reconciliations of other team members.
  • Prepare various key monthly reports required to help ensure accurate financials including the Costed Not Invoiced report. Resolve issues as required by working with the business, IT, and other finance team members.
  • Main contact for all required invoice reversals. Review request in detail, gather required approvals, conduct the reversal in the ERP, document as required. 
  • Responsible for the rental revenue cutoff analysis and required monthly journal entries to ensure proper revenue recognition is applied.
  • Assist the Sr. Accounting Manager as needed with other GL management items such as open/close the period, COA maintenance, manual invoice coding & approval, control environment tasks, global finance project deliverables, etc. 
  • Code intercompany invoices as necessary and prepare required intercompany reconciliations.

Required Skills:

  • Proficient MS Office skills 
  • Experience with preparing journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Exhibits initiative and is willing to learn and improve processes every month. 
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills to foster open communication between the business unit and finance team.
  • Be adaptable to interruptions during the workday caused by shifting priorities.
  • Must have strong attention to detail.

Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree - Accounting  
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience

Travel Required:

  • A willingness to travel to branches as needed mostly to support inventory counts. On average would be less than 2 trips per year.
