Job description

Job Summary:
Scientific Games is the global leader in lottery games, sports betting and technology, and they are seeking a Senior Quality Control Engineer. The role involves debugging software products, developing and executing test plans, and ensuring quality standards for company products.
Responsibilities:
• Continually developing professional expertise in all aspects of test engineering.
• Follow the department test process.
• Evaluate and provide input to requirement documents.
• Work through difficult problems for resolution.
• An experienced professional with a full understanding of several specific jurisdictional requirements.
• Demonstrate good judgement in selecting testing methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
• Create and execute automated and manual testing on new and existing products.
• Ensure quality meets the requisite functional, technical, and regulatory compliance and maintains high overall product quality.
• Provide test plans, test scripts and test summary reports.
• Interface with Lottery SIS and other Product and Development staff to resolve issues in a timely manner.
• Gather and analyze data in support of business cases, proposed projects, and systems requirements.
• Resolves a wide range of issues in creative and effective ways.
• Reproduce issues, when necessary, to assist software development in resolving production issues.
• Responsible for project escalations for each assigned project.
• Submit clearly written bug reports and reporting results when necessary to the associated management teams.
• Create a test environment and then control the integrity of that environment during the life of a project.
• Monitor status of bug reports created during testing cycles.
• Provide general status and information about specific project risks to Software Development Managers and the Software Quality Control Engineering Manager.
• Apply and monitor proven analytical and problem-solving skills to help validate IT processes through careful testing to maximize the benefit of business investments in IT initiatives.
• Mentor new Associate SQC Engineers on assigned projects.
• Networks with internal and external personnel within the Central Gaming System.
• Normally receive little instruction on day-to-day work, general instructions on new assignments.
Qualifications:
Required:
• 8+ years’ experience in software testing, setting up test environments, testing and logging results; or equivalent experience.
• Project management skills and/or substantial exposure to project-based work structures.
• A 2- or 4-year college degree, preferably in a technical area, is a plus.
• Well based knowledge of the lottery gaming industry.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office desktop applications, especially Word and Excel.
• Consistently strive to achieve high quality work.
• Proficient understanding of software test methodologies/procedures and the overall product development lifecycle.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Seeking and using feedback for continuous quality improvements.
• Ability to communicate and collaborate with other team members.
• Self-starter that can work within a team as well as independently.
• Ability to work in a fast paced, deadline-oriented environment.
• Detail-oriented and organized.
• Capable of providing input and potential solutions to identified issues.

Preferred:
• Certified Tester Foundation Level (CTFL) from ISTQB preferred.
• Certified Software Tester (CSTE) from Software Certifications preferred.
• A working knowledge or experience with the JIRA Issue Management tool preferred.
• Useful prior experience for this position includes: General proficiency in a Linux / Unix environment, Jira bug / issue tracking and project management tool, qTest test case management tool, Able to write basic queries in SQL Server and JIRA boards, Testing web applications, Automated testing tools.
