Job description

THE POSITION The Senior Civil Engineer (Hydraulic) role with the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources will give you the chance to be a part of challenging and meaningful work. This position will let you guide complex engineering projects that protect natural areas and public spaces. Your special set of skills will help support the safety and strength of state parks and forests.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK This position supports the design, inspection, and improvement of dams and other civil engineering projects that protect public spaces and natural resources. The work you do, will help ensure safe structures and reliable facilities across state parks and forests.

As a Senior Civil Engineer (Hydraulic), you will perform the following duties: Engineering Support: Provide technical guidance for complex civil engineering projects and review plans, drawings, and cost estimates Project Design: Develop advanced designs for dams, erosion control structures, streambank stabilization, and related projects Field Inspection: Visit sites to gather measurements, assess conditions, and collect hydraulic and engineering data Consultant Coordination: Review consultant work for accuracy, manage design contracts, and track project progress Regulatory Compliance: Obtain required permits and apply knowledge of environmental and stormwater regulations to assigned projects Interested in learning more. Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 5 days per pay period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.

The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview. Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Six years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; or Five years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty; and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; and an associate's degree in civil engineering technology or a closely related engineering discipline; or Two years of professional civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.

Special Requirements: This position requires possession of a valid Professional Engineer license issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists. This position requires possession of a valid driver's license. Other Requirements: PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
