SENIOR WEALTH PLANNER

Overview

One of Chicago’s largest and oldest private investment companies and single-family offices located in downtown Chicago is seeking a Senior Wealth Planner.

Position Summary

The Senior Wealth Planner is a key member of the Principal Services team, responsible for delivering proactive, integrated financial planning services to family members. This role will report to the EVP & Chief Operating Officer.

This role combines hands-on financial planning, estate and tax awareness, and direct client engagement. The individual will leverage financial planning software tools to develop and present actionable insights, support multigenerational wealth planning, and contribute to building scalable capabilities for the family office.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Planning & Advisory

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive financial plans, including cash flow, spending, and long-term projections
  • Provide proactive guidance to support key life decisions, financial independence, and responsible wealth stewardship
  • Support development of a structured, age-based financial planning framework for family members

Estate & Tax Integration

  • Incorporate trust structures, gifting strategies, and estate plans into financial models
  • Partner with internal tax and legal advisors to ensure consistency across planning strategies
  • Assist in evaluating the long-term impact of estate structures on future generations

Client Engagement

  • Act as a point of contact for family members
    • Present financial plans and insights in a clear, practical, and tailored manner
    • Support financial education initiatives and promote financial literacy across generations
    • Technology & Data Utilization

      • Utilize financial planning software tools (e.g., eMoney and/or similar platforms) to build and maintain planning models
      • Translate data into clear, actionable reporting for family members
      • Contribute to ongoing enhancement of planning tools, templates, and reporting processes
      • Team Collaboration & Mentorship

        • Partner with Principal Services, Tax, and Investment teams to deliver integrated advice
        • Mentor and support development of other Principal Services team members
        • Contribute to building a collaborative, high-performing team culture
        • Process Development

          • Help define and implement standardized planning processes and deliverables
          • Support scalability as the number of G7 family members increases over time
          • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, consistency, and overall service delivery
          • Qualifications

            Experience

            • 5+ years of experience using financial planning software in a client-facing role
            • Experience working with high-net-worth individuals or families
            • Demonstrated ability to build and present comprehensive financial plans
            • Technical Knowledge

              • Strong understanding of:
                • Estate planning concepts (trusts, gifting, generational transfers)
                • Individual and trust taxation fundamentals
                • Investment principles and their integration into financial planning
                • Experience with financial planning software (Vanilla, eMoney, MoneyGuidePro, or similar)
                • Professional Attributes

                  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage across generations
                  • High level of discretion, judgment, and professionalism
                  • Service-oriented mindset with a focus on long-term relationship building
                  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
                  • Team player with a true spirit of cooperation and willingness to ensure a smooth and effective operation
                  • Education & Credentials (Preferred)

                    • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
                    • CFP®, CPA, or similar designation preferred
