The Senior Epic Client Systems Administrator (ECSA) is an advanced technical leadership role serving as the primary escalation point and subject matter expert for Epic client access, web, and service server environments hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS). This position drives architecture decisions for Epic on AWS, leads complex infrastructure projects, mentors the ECSA team, and ensures the strategic alignment of Epic platform operations with organizational goals.

  • Your Mission: /What You’ll Do Day-to-Day:Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design, architecture, and optimization of Epic web, client deployment, and service server platforms on AWS to ensure scalability and high availability
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for complex technical issues across all Epic client systems environments hosted on AWS
  • Drive strategic planning for platform upgrades, AWS infrastructure capacity management, and technology refresh cycles
  • Collaborate with cloud engineering team on AWS architecture decisions including EC2 instance optimization, Elastic Load Balancing strategies, Auto Scaling, and VPC design for Epic workloads
  • Develop and implement automation frameworks leveraging AWS services and PowerShell to improve operational efficiency
  • Lead crossfunctional initiatives including Epic upgrades, golive events, and disaster recovery exercises across AWS regions
  • Establish and maintain operational standards, documentation, and best practices for Epic on AWS
  • Evaluate emerging AWS services and recommend adoption to improve Epic platform performance, reliability, and cost efficiency
  • Participate in AWS infrastructure design decisions and capacity planning to ensure longterm system health
  • Coordinate with vendor partners, Epic representatives, and AWS support on escalated issues and strategic initiatives
  • Lead incident management for critical events, including root cause analysis and preventive action planning across the AWS stack
  • Perform other duties, responsibilities, and special projects, as assigned to support departmental and organizational objectives.
  • Who You Are & What You’ll Bring

  • 7 plus years of experience administering Microsoft Windows Server environments in complex enterprise settings, or equivalent combination of progressive experience
  • 5 years’ previous experience as an ECSA.
  • Strong proficiency with AWS services including EC2, EBS, VPC, Elastic Load Balancing, Auto Scaling, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, IAM, and Systems Manager
  • Demonstrated expertise managing largescale or distributed application deployment and virtual desktop environments (Citrix, VMware Horizon, or similar)
  • Advanced proficiency with enterprise web server platforms, load balancing technologies (F5 BIGIP, NetScaler), and service architecture
  • Deep understanding of networking, security protocols, Active Directory, DNS, PKI, and certificate management
  • Proven experience supporting Epic environments including MyChart, Interconnect, Hyperspace Web, and Epic Print Service
  • Advanced scripting and automation skills (PowerShell, Python, or similar) with demonstrated ability to build operational tooling
  • Experience leading technical projects, coordinating crossfunctional teams, and driving outcomes without direct authority
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions
  • Excellent communication skills with demonstrated ability to present complex technical topics to executive and nontechnical stakeholders
  • Proven track record of mentoring technical staff and contributing to team development in a collaborative, inclusive environment
  • Experience supporting Epic environments such as MyChart, Interconnect, Hyperspace Web, or Epic Print Service preferred
  • Experience with load balancing technologies such as AWS ALB/NLB, F5 BIGIP, or NetScaler preferred
  • Education/Certifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 710 years of experience is required in lieu of degree.
  • Epic Hyperspace Deployment Administration certification is required.
  • Epic Web and Service Server Administration certification required.
  • AWS Solutions Architect Associate or AWS SysOps Administrator Associate certification is preferred.
  • Travel Requirements:
  • Minimal travel (up to 15%) may be required for training, golives, or client support activities. Travel is primarily regional with occasional overnight trips.
  • Physical Readiness:
  • Engineers are expected to be able to teamlift heavy equipment (up to 50 pounds per engineer) climb ladders and operate certain tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, cable crimpers and other tools typical to this line of work
