Job Description:-

Systems engineer responsible for configuring, managing, and monitoring the UNIX servers that provide the supporting infrastructure for the EPIC Electronic Health Record System

Support the servers and lpars that run the EPIC cache application including lower and Disaster recovery instances.

Monitor system performance counters, application response time and other system metrics and respond to any issues before they become widespread problems

Ensure that application and system configurations support optimal system performance

Engage support resources as/when needed, especially UNIX, SAN, Windows and Citrix administrators in the Share Services team (EITS)

Assist with vendor application upgrades

Coordinate system upgrades and patching

Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade all Unix and Linux systems and services, that support the EPIC center of Excellence

Coordinate, implement and set up integration for all UNIX (Linux too) based EPIC applications and services..

Responsible for systems security and compliance standards

Required Qualifications :

2-5 years experience building, supporting and running a tier 1 application

Self starter with ability to operate with little direct oversight

Ability to become an expert in new applications in a relatively short timeframe

Good interpersonal skills - you will be communicating regularly with internal and external employees of various computer skill levels, helping them resolve a wide variety of technical issues

Working knowledge of TCP/IP, and DNS and firewalls

Effective priority and task management skills.

Preferred Qualifications :

Experience supporting healthcare related applications

Knowledge in UNIX AND Windows

Epic cache experience a plus

Education :

Advanced coursework (Bachelor's degree preferred) in computer science or related field

Epic certifications a plus
