The Computing Solutions Department is looking for a Senior Systems Engineer for the development of the next generation product line solutions in Cedar Rapids, IA.  The Computing Solutions organization is focused on the development of solutions that can be applied across a wide variety of Avionics products in safety critical applications.  Our team is responsible for the development, certification and sustainment of these solutions.   

We are seeking candidates with a proven history in specifying, designing, verifying, and testing highly integrated computing and graphics systems. Your responsibilities will span the creation of comprehensive plans, requirements, architecture definition, meticulous verification and validation, and the development of detailed design documentation for our next generation solutions with the product line avionic electronic systems.  This is also an excellent opportunity to work with a highly experienced team of architects and senior engineers with program visibility across the Avionics business units. 

What You Will Do: 

  • Develop requirements for a highly integrated DAL A computing system in accordance with industry guidance (ARP4754B) and program plans. 

  • Drive the product architecture discussions, focusing on designing systems that are not just effective but also certifiable. This requires close collaboration with Hardware, Software, Safety, and Security teams. 

  • 10% travel as needed. 

Qualifications You Must Have: 

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience

  • Experience with safety critical system, hardware, or software development (e.g. DO-178C, DO-254, or ARP4754A/B).

  • Experience authoring and validating requirements 

Qualifications We Prefer: 

  • Experience with the avionics equipment certification process. 

  • Experience working with stakeholders to generate concepts of operations and use cases. 

  • Experience authoring in-depth technical documents 

  • Experience working with and testing embedded hardware and software.  

  • Experience developing automated tests utilizing scripting.  

  • Excellent communication skills for both internal and external customers.  

  • Adaptable to change, determined to accomplish tasks based on program schedule, collaborating with teammates to make the best decisions, enjoy learning new technologies, be self-motivated and contribute to a positive work environment.

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
