The Director, Business Applications, based in Lexington, will play an important role in delivering and managing (strategic) business applications. You will manage the global Business Applications team, ensuring our business process run smoothly in our main business application platforms such as Veeva, Benchling, SAP, and other adjacent platforms.

You will ensure the team delivers the right value to the organization, by properly evaluating which activities generate the most value for the organization and by helping the team and the organization making priority decisions. And you know what is needed to make the team further grow and become even more efficient.

In addition, you will oversee the Vendor Relationships to ensure we have the maximum output and business continuity.

You will be part of the IT team globally and we strive to properly work together as one whole IT team, where we see different colleagues helping each other out on different areas. So we expect many cross functional IT help, facilitated by you with your peers from the other IT functions.

Key result areas (major duties, accountabilities and responsibilities)
  • Manages the entire Applications Team. Currently consisting of Application Engineers & Specialists.
  • Manages on average 1 large business application implementation.
  • Ensuring Application Management within uniQure provides the best value to the organization, balancing internal resources, business key users, communities, and vendor support structures.
  • Overseeing the overall Application Management structure.
  • Configuration Management, Change Management, Quality & (Automated) Testing, Release Management and operational support of strategic IT, Business Applications at uniQure, including, but not limited to ERP, Electronic Lab Notebook, Contract Lifecycle Systems, QMS, DMS, LMS, RIMS, eTMF, CTMS, CRM, MedComs, PromoMats, etc.
  • Vendor management, oversee, manage timeliness and quality of the services provided to Business Applications
  • IT compliance and regulations; Participates and provides artifacts and evidence for audits
  • Define, write and provide handover training on procedures and work instructions that enable Support Engineers of the IT support team to provide support to the business community
  • Intake and onboard new essential business applications and vendors, orchestrate application service processes.
  • Manage the second and third level support for issues and questions regarding Business Applications and where need support the escalations to our external support layer.
  • Participates and lead Platform and Application activities; such as planned maintenance, communication, installations
  • Proposes and implements solution for improved IT documentation and Process description
  • Collaborates closely with the Implementation Manager and the IT Business Analysts when it comes to other Implementations and ensures proper handover from Implementation into application management / support.
  • Overall ensures a closed collaboration with any of the other IT functions / colleagues', as we are 1 team fully working together.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in business systems application management.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience and/or involvement in large-scale business application implementations.
  • Clear evidence of being able to effectively manage diverse computer systems and integrations
  • Clear evidence of managing a team of application engineers, specialist
  • Proven to make a team more efficient, value driven
  • Experience in an international organization
  • Large Business Applications experience background. (CRM, ERP, HCM)
  • Project Management skills
  • Experience managing SoX and/or GxP compliant systems
  • Ideally experience working in the Pharmaceutical or Biotech industry

Salary Range: $205,000 to $265,000

The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant, relevant years of experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from where they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
