We’re looking for a curious and collaborative Senior Designer with at least seven years of professional experience and a bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture. In this full-time, in-office role, you’ll contribute to creating environments that inspire personal growth and innovative design while working across all project phases, from concept development through construction documentation. This position is ideal for someone with strong design sensibilities, excellent graphic skills, and a passion for creating buildings that are loved and built to endure.

Job Responsibilities

Design + Documentation

  • Assist with the design, planning, and construction administration of building projects
  • Support development of design documents, drawings, and presentation materials using CAD and 3D modeling software
  • Participate in environmentally responsible design strategies — considering systems, materials, orientation, and aesthetics to meet the project’s goals
  • Contribute to the preparation of Construction Documents that define quality levels, materials, and system specifications
  • Collaborate with design team members and consultants to ensure coordinated documentation
Projects
  • Participate in project phases from design through construction, including site visits and field observation reports
  • Assist in the bidding and procurement process, including addenda preparation and bid tabulation
  • Help interpret construction documents and support the contractor with necessary design clarifications
  • Support reviews of submittals and assist in determining Substantial and Final Completion of projects
Firm Contribution
  • Contribute to Hanbury’s Holistic Design process by aligning work with our Vision, Design Excellence Criteria, and client goals
  • Help manage risk, schedules, and project documentation
  • Promote firm culture and core values through collaborative teamwork and continuous improvement with clients and internal team members
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture, interior design, or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in an architectural or design office
  • Strong design sensibility and technical drawing skills
  • Proficiency in design software, such as Revit, Rhino, Grasshopper, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and SketchUp
  • Demonstrate strong graphic design skills to develop compelling presentations, diagrams, and visual storytelling that effectively communicate design intent to clients and project stakeholders
  • Familiarity with sustainability principles and environmentally responsible design
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
  • Willingness to learn and contribute across all project phases
  • Graphic expertise is strongly valued
