Job description

At Bildt, we build more than complex projects, and we build strong relationships, great teams, and lasting impact.
Bildt is a relationship-driven prefabrication and modular construction company within The Boldt Group, focused on delivering smarter, faster, and higher-quality building solutions through industrialized construction. We are seeking a senior Design (DfMA) leader who brings deep technical expertise, strong people leadership, and a collaborative mindset to help advance how projects are designed, manufactured, and delivered. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of design, manufacturing, and construction, and who values clarity, trust, and partnership across teams, clients, and trade partners.
In this role, you'll lead the application of Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DfMA) across active projects, ensuring designs are fully aligned with Bildt's modular, panelized, and volumetric construction strategies. You'll work closely with architects, engineers, VDC teams, estimators, production, and project leaders to define scope, review models and shop drawings, reduce rework, and embed quality and safety into systems from the earliest design stages. As both a technical leader and people manager, you'll mentor teams, drive continuous improvement, and help strengthen repeatable, scalable manufacturing solutions that deliver value to our partners and communities-while supporting Bildt's mission to build better through collaboration and innovation.
The anticipated salary range for this position is $134,750- $181,483 annually. This information reflects the anticipated base salary for this position based on current market data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Actual pay will be adjusted based on an individual's skills, experiences, education, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
We Are Bildt
  • Our People: We create opportunities for growth, fulfillment, and reaching full potential.
  • Our Customers: We exceed expectations through advocacy, problem-solving, and collaboration.
  • Our Partners: We collaborate with trust and respect to drive innovation and shared success.
  • Our Communities: We give back with our time, talents, and resources, elevating dignity and doing good

Why You'll Love Working at Bildt
  • Employee Owned: Your work fuels our success and your future
  • Purpose-Driven: ESG-focused work aligned with strong values
  • Better Together: Teamwork, trust, and shared accountability
  • Safety First: Everyone home safe every day
  • Career Growth: Real development through mentorship and hands-on learning
  • High-Impact Projects: Complex industrial work that matters
  • Lead & Mentor: Learn today, lead tomorrow
  • Rich Culture: What started as a carpentry shop has grown into a multi-million-dollar company built on relationships and craftsmanship
  • High Performance: By people, strengthened through AI and technology that enhance collaboration, transparency, and results.

At Bildt, high performance starts with strong relationships. We believe the best projects are delivered by teams that trust each other, communicate openly, and take ownership from the field to the office. Our culture blends accountability with support; where learning, mentorship, and collaboration, power results. You won't just contribute to projects that matter; you'll grow alongside people who are investing in your success.
What You Bring
  • A Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, industrial design, or construction management.
  • 10+ years of experience across construction and manufacturing environments, with deep exposure to industrialized or prefabricated construction methods.
  • 5+ years of people leadership experience, with a proven ability to mentor technical leaders and guide cross-functional teams.
  • Strong expertise in Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DfMA), constructability, and system-level design thinking.
  • Demonstrated experience reviewing and coordinating design packages, shop drawings, and fabrication models.
  • Ability to collaborate across disciplines-architecture, engineering, VDC, estimating, production, and operations-to proactively identify and resolve issues.
  • A relationship-first leadership style grounded in clarity, accountability, technical credibility, and trust.

Nice to Have
  • Experience leading or scaling modular, panelized, or volumetric building systems across multiple project types.
  • Background developing or refining DfMA standards, scope definitions, or Basis of Design (BOD) documentation.
  • Hands-on experience balancing design intent with manufacturing, logistics, and installation constraints.
  • Exposure to lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Comfort serving as a technical escalation point for complex scope, system, or precedent-setting decisions.
  • Experience supporting knowledge capture, lessons learned, and repeatability across manufacturing operations.
