Senior Design Engineer

Our client is a leader in the manufacturing of recycling and materials handling industry. They currently have an opening for a Senior Design Engineer.

Position Overview

The Senior Design Engineer is responsible for the planning, organization and directing of projects from concept through the design, prototype, manufacturing, and commissioning stages. They are also responsible for ensuring that work meets established internal quality standards as well as customer specifications.

Essential Job Functions
  • The development and optimization of internally manufactured equipment.
  • Analyse of design and mechanical systems of current machines and use benchmarking to develop quality and efficiency.
  • Development of high standard manufacturing drawings in accordance with standards to accompany work instructions and quotations.
  • Production of detailed written work instructions for the manufacture and installations of products.
  • Creating and maintaining 3D Model and 2D drawings of products for presentation, manufacture and marketing.
  • Investigate mechanical failures or unexpected maintenance problems to make recommendations for corrective action and implements.
  • Actively participate in the continuous Quality improvement process, and lean manufacturing strategies.
Qualifications
  • 4-year engineering degree OR 5+ years of experience in the recycling and materials handling industry
  • Must be proficient in MS Office (including, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Good working knowledge of Desk Top Publishing.
  • Previous 3D CAD experience essential, preferably using Pro-Engineer or Creo.
  • 2D Autocad experience advantageous.
  • Outstanding communication required with excellent written and verbal skills.
