Job description

The AWS Data Center Design Engineering team is looking for a Senior Data Center Infrastructure Engineering (DCIE) Manager to join our highly collaborative leadership team, responsible for all data center designs across U.S. Eastern Region. Our team is responsible for providing world-class data center capacity to our customers, emphasizing safety, security, and efficiency, while finding creative ways to meet AWS's growing demand

We justify and communicate the technical decisions we make directly to AWS leadership and drive continuous advancements in our designs. Sr. DCIE Managers at AWS impact our current design, as well as establish design procedures and protocols for future systems.


As the Sr. Data Center Infrastructure Engineering (DCIE) Manager, you will lead a team of established multi-disciplinary engineers and technical support staff focused on project specific implementation. Your key function will be to lead engineering disciplines ranging from architectural, structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, fire protection and acoustic engineering, working together to deliver data center designs compliant with local building codes.

Your work will involve engaging with AWS engineering community and our internal customers, including procurement, construction and real estate. Since our team self-performs engineering on most of our projects, you will have significant influence and your contributions will have immediate impact. This role is an opportunity to cooperate with many facets of the AWS organization, external engineering resources and public regulatory agencies.
Anticipated travel not to exceed 25%
Key job responsibilities
The Senior DCIE Manager will be responsible for the following:
-Leading DC Infrastructure Engineering Design in AMER, including establishment design requirements for owned, leased facilities


-Conceives, initiates, and leads projects with widespread impact on infrastructure design, innovation, and implementation.
-Sets the standard for engineering, test, and best practices. Drives process improvements across the organization.
-Decompose complex problems into straightforward and actionable solutions.
-Be a leader within the group as well as within internal and external teams that support our data centers.
-Serve as a technical advisor for AWS datacenter architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical or constructability designs.
-Work with internal teams to understand new rack cooling power and space requirements.
-Work with local agencies having jurisdiction and certification agencies to ensure compliance with federal, state and municipal requirements and building codes.
