To thrive as a Senior Configuration Manager, you need expertise in configuration management principles, change control processes, and a relevant degree—often in information technology or engineering. Familiarity with configuration management tools such as Git, Ansible, or IBM Rational, as well as certifications like ITIL or CMII, are typically expected. A Senior Configuration Manager works closely with engineering, quality assurance, project management, and operations teams to maintain control of system configurations and ensure that all changes are tracked and implemented correctly. They facilitate regular meetings to review configuration status, resolve discrepancies, and coordinate deployments. Effective communication and documentation are key, as the role often acts as a bridge between technical and non-technical stakeholders to minimize risks and maintain project schedules.

What are Senior Configuration Managers?
