The Big Picture
Cornerstone Church (https://cornerstonefree.com) is seeking a Senior Pastor who joyfully embraces the calling to shepherd Christ's church through faithful preaching, humble leadership, relational discipleship, and collaborative ministry with the elder board, staff, and ministry leaders. Cornerstone is an elder-led church in Glenview, IL, affiliated with the Evangelical Free Church of America (EFCA).

Job Profile
Full time
Serve as the primary preaching pastor of the church while also serving as an elder on the elder board to shepherd, equip, and oversee the spiritual health and direction of the congregation
Serve as the primary expository Bible preacher and teacher for the congregation
Faithfully preach and teach the Word of God with theological depth and practical application that speaks to the culture
Lead the church in biblical vision and spiritual formation
Shepherd the congregation through prayer, pastoral care, counseling, and discipleship
Serve as part of the elder board in spiritual oversight and governance
Equip and mentor ministry leaders, staff, and volunteers
Help cultivate a healthy culture of unity, grace, truth, and mission
Provide leadership for the church's mission, ministries, and strategic direction
Support outreach, discipleship, family ministry, worship ministry, and next-generation ministry
Encourage biblical community and member engagement
Cornerstone operates under an elder-led model of church governance in accordance with its constitution and EFCA affiliation - the Senior Pastor serves as an elder collaboratively with the elder board in the spiritual leadership of the church
Qualifications
Meets the biblical qualifications for elders/pastors outlined in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1
Agreement with the EFCA Statement of Faith
A deep love for Christ, His Church, and His Word
Strong expository preaching ability and communication skills
A shepherd's heart with relational warmth, humility, and strong interpersonal skills
Convictional theological leadership grounded in Scripture
Emotional maturity, wisdom, and collaborative leadership
A passion for discipleship, evangelism, and leadership development
Master of Divinity or equivalent theological training preferred
Prior pastoral ministry experience preferred
Demonstrated commitment to servant leadership and team ministry
