Job description

World Vision is seeking a seasoned and mission-driven leader to join our Finance team as a Senior Manager, Accounting and Reporting. In this role, you will lead a critical accounting function that ensures the integrity, accuracy, and stewardship of financial resources that directly support World Vision's global mission. As a leader within Finance, you will oversee financial reporting, audit readiness, and risk management while developing a high-performing team and driving continuous improvement across accounting processes and systems. Requirements: Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in accounting (eight years). In addition to education or education equivalent, requires a minimum of 8 years of professional private/corporate accounting experience or equivalent, such as 5 years where experience includes at least 2 years in public accounting. At least one year of previous experience leading teams required. Work experience in public accounting firm or nonprofit organization with knowledge of Uniform Guidance, IRS regulations and automation tools highly desired. Accreditations such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) strongly preferred.

The Job
As Senior Manager of Accounting and Reporting, you will provide leadership and oversight for core accounting functions that are essential to the organization's financial health and mission delivery. You will lead a team responsible for financial reporting, audit support, and accounting advisory, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely execution across all areas. You will operate at a strategic level, guiding accounting practices and policies while strengthening internal controls and risk management across the organization. This includes overseeing month-end close processes, financial statement preparation, and audit readiness, while ensuring alignment with GAAP standards and nonprofit regulatory requirements.
In this role, you will serve as a key partner to business leaders, translating complex financial information into actionable insights that support decision-making. You will also lead and influence cross-functional initiatives, including technology implementations, process improvements, and system enhancements that increase efficiency and strengthen financial operations.
This position requires both technical depth and leadership presence. You will build and develop a high-performing team, mentor staff, and foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and mission alignment. Given the importance of this function, you will play a critical role in maintaining continuity and strengthening the organization's financial readiness during key periods such as audit cycles and fiscal year-end.
Responsibilities
Keep Christ central in individual and corporate life; actively participate in and contribute to the spiritual disciplines of the organization (Christian conduct, chapel, prayer, worship, devotions, and leadership of devotions); incorporate WV Core Values into decisions within scope of role.
Help carry out our Christian organization's mission, vision, and strategies. Personify the ministry of World Vision by witnessing to Christ and ministering to others through life, deed, word and sign.
Build, lead and inspire a high-performing team.
  • Lead, mentor and coach staff to develop subject matter expertise and drive process improvement initiatives, technology implementations, and other automated solutions.
  • Manage goals, budget, and priorities for the department and monitor performance.
  • Hire, fire, train, counsel, evaluate, and recommend salary increases and promotions for those under direct supervision.

Leverage expert knowledge of accounting regulations, industry trends, and best practices to develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls that ensure accuracy, adequate safeguarding of assets, and compliance with applicable regulations.
Manage month-end close process, oversee general ledger accounting functions (including resolving overdue/unreconciled balances) and ensure timely and accurate financial statement issuance.
Manage and coach team to assess and monitor risk and internal controls within assigned portfolio. Ensure risks and control gaps are identified and develop recommendations to mitigate, implementing changes as needed.
Manage independent audits.
  • Review and approve audit plans, monitor progress for timely issuance, address auditor questions, and provide documentation as needed.
  • Develop solutions to address new accounting guidance, recommending changes to policy and process and implementing as required.

Lead complex projects and initiatives for the department including technology implementations/upgrades, financial analysis to support senior management decision-making, and other initiatives with broad organizational impact.
Develop and lead education, training, and client service to various areas of World Vision on financial policies, procedures, tools and systems.
Work collaboratively with team members when assigned to work as part of a team.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Maintain awareness of corporate goals, objectives, organizational announcements, and activities. Reference and follow organizational policies and procedures, seeking clarity as needed.
