This role leads the design, development, and optimization of enterprise BI solutions, partnering closely with business and technical stakeholders to define metrics, shape analytical requirements, and deliver trusted insights. The Senior Power BI Developer builds scalable semantic models, implements governance and performance best practices, and transforms complex data into actionable insights that drive strategic decision-making across the organization using Power BI, SQL Server, and the Azure data platform.

What you will do as a Senior BI Developer:
  • Lead and facilitate collaboration with business users, analysts, and technical partners to define, refine, and prioritize analytical requirements, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Perform advanced analysis of source and curated data to identify data quality issues, integration risks, and modeling opportunities; proactively communicate insights and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Design and develop visually compelling, actionable Power BI solutions, including reports and dashboards with intuitive navigation and drill through capabilities.
  • Build reusable report templates, standardized layouts, and JSON theme files to improve consistency and accelerate delivery.
  • Design and maintain semantic models that align with best practices for performance, scalability, security, and effective modeling techniques.
  • Diagnose slow reports, visual bottlenecks, and refresh performance issues.
  • Troubleshoot data model issues related to relationships, ambiguity, row context/filter context, and refresh failures.
  • Use tools such as DAX Studio, Tabular Editor, Performance Analyzer, and SQL query tuning techniques.
  • Support workspace governance, deployment pipelines, security models, and release management.
  • Monitor Power BI model refresh orchestration framework within Azure Data Factory.
  • Lead Power BI platform administration, including gateway configuration and upgrades, data source management, capacity monitoring, and performance optimization.
What you will need:
  • Bachelor's degree in fields such as Data Science, Computer Science, Business Analytics, Statistics, or Information System.
  • 8-12 years of overall Business Intelligence and analytics development experience, with 5+ years of deep, hands-on experience delivering enterprise solutions using Microsoft Power BI.
  • Strong dimensional modeling and semantic layer design expertise.
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, relational databases and writing SQL queries for complex data analysis.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service, including advanced DAX, data modeling, performance tuning, security implementation, and change tracking.
  • Report tuning, model compression, cardinality management, star schema optimization.
  • Row-Level Security (RLS), Object-Level Security (OLS), data sensitivity, UI/UX design principles.
  • Deep understanding of Power BI Service administration, refresh architecture, gateways, and licensing/capacity models.
  • Proven ability to manage and deliver multiple, complex BI initiatives on time.
  • Power BI, SQL, Excel, Data modeling, and data warehousing.
