About this role

We are looking for a Senior Bankruptcy Attorney with 15+ years of experience to lead and build out the bankruptcy and restructuring practice at a top-ranked boutique venture capital law firm. You'll bring your own portable book of business ($1M-$1.5M in annual collections) and serve as the head of the department, with a clear path to equity partnership and exceptional compensation upside.

What will you be doing?

  • Leading the firm's bankruptcy and restructuring practice as the senior department head
  • Advising investment funds on troubled portfolio companies, focusing on debt-side restructuring and workouts (not exclusively Chapter 11)
  • Handling both in-court bankruptcy matters and out-of-court restructurings
  • Working 300-400 hours per year on firm-generated bankruptcy work alongside your portable practice
  • Mentoring and directing a junior associate with bankruptcy background already on staff

Key Requirements

  • Must have a standalone portable bankruptcy/restructuring practice ($1M-$1.5M in annual collections)
  • Deep experience in both in-court bankruptcy and out-of-court workouts/restructurings
  • Ability to operate as a department head โ€” you will essentially be the practice
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with desire to grow a book of business on a supportive platform
  • Some big law firm experience preferred; must be comfortable in a high-level boutique setting
Role responsibilities
โ€ข Oversee portable bankruptcy practice
โ€ข Work 300 to 400 hours per year of firm-generated bankruptcy work
โ€ข Grow the attorney's current practice
โ€ข Work closely with Reitler attorneys servicing existing firm clients
โ€ข Support in growing their own book of business
