Job Purpose and Summary: 


Analyze information, maintain complete and accurate records, and assist with routine accounting duties. Provide efficient, reliable support to accounting department members, other departments, and external parties.


Duties and responsibilities:


  • Maintain general ledger, bank statements and account reconciliations.
  • Prepare and post monthly journal entries.
  • Perform month end reconciliation reports for all asset and liability accounts.
  • Reconcile bank accounts daily including application of customer payments.
  • Perform month end inventory roll forward and obsolescence reserve reporting.
  • Responsible for Seed invoice processing and payment tracking.
  • Monthly review of AR Aging with Sales Manager including collections follow-ups.
  • Maintain Fixed Asset system and CIP Analysis.
  • Analyze spending discrepancies versus budget.
  • Analyze and monitor AP And AR Aging on a weekly basis. 
  • Daily processing of sales invoices in QuickBooks. Reconcile balances with ABS vs QB.
  • Responsible for Quarterly sales tax and Year-End 1099 statements filing.
  • Prepare and file other required returns including business insurance renewals.
  • Assist and support managers on mid-year and year-end audit requirements.
  • Backup support to AP.
  • Assist in preparation of annual budget process.
  • Partner with department managers and provide periodic reports.
  • Contribute to improving accounting processes and controls.
  • Step in as backup when Accounting Manager are not available. 
  • Ensuring operations are maintained in a safe and compliant condition, aligning with company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other duties and projects as requested by management.


Requirements

Education Level and Focus:  Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.


Years and Type of Related Experience Required: 

  • 5+ years of relevant experience, preferably in the agriculture sector.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel. 
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills. 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Skills and Abilities:


Interpersonal and Communication: Effectively communicate (verbal and written) with management, co-workers, and external contacts, and telephone skills.


Administrative and Operations: Organize job responsibilities to complete work on a timely basis.


Physical Demands: Ability to sit and work in front of a computer terminal for extended periods (may sit for approx. 7+ hours with 2-hour intervals being in a stationary sitting position). May lift to 25 lbs.


Work Environment: We will work in an office environment with low to moderate noise levels. However, we may be required to enter warehouse areas with high noise levels, wet floors, forklift and pedestrian traffic, and extreme hot/cold climates.


Special Equipment Used: Computer with emphasis on spreadsheet skills.


Special Requirements: Willing to work overtime, holidays, and weekends as requested.
