Job description

The Security Technician will be responsible for installing, servicing and troubleshooting/diagnostics on access control equipment and IP based video systems including, but not limited to: electrified and non-electrified locks, card readers, ancillary door devices, IP and analog cameras, head-end video recording devices, wired and wireless systems and intercom systems.  As a security technician, projects are in highly visible environments, active and occupied projects and construction sites.  This person is expected to very professional in various situations.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • A Security Technician may be required to perform any of the duties and responsibilities associated with classification ST (Security Technician) in addition to the following;
  • Demonstrate proficiency in reading and understanding electrical schematics, PDF drawings, and related documents associated with installation and/or service of security systems.
  • Lays out work and preps materials for installation.
  • Install cabling, mount equipment, install card readers, door contacts, mag locks, electrified strikes and integrated systems.
  • Functional understanding of low voltage systems, relays, normally closed/normally open.
  • Assembles and installs access control panels, power supplies, cable pathways system and various cable that includes, but is not limited to, CAT cable, low voltage cable and coax.
  • General understanding of Network Topology.
  • Test voltage and continuity using a multi-meter.
  • Possess mechanical and computer skill and ability to effectively troubleshoot.
  • Operates any hand tools and equipment necessary to perform all associated tasks.
  • Performs other project related duties and assignments as instructed by supervisor.
  • Meets attendance standards and complies with late/absence notification procedures.

Position Requirements:

  • Education:  High School Graduate, GED or equivalent.  Certifications.
  • Active, or ability to immediately obtain access control license.
  • Experience:  Must have  3 or more years in relevant access control installation, service and configuration.
