As a security installation technician, your job is to help install an alarm system or another security measure in a home or business facility. In this role, you may discuss potential threats and security options with each customer, choose the best equipment for their needs, and test the system after installation to ensure it functions properly. Security installation technicians may use hand or power tools, wire electrical systems, and climb or crawl as necessary to install system components. Many security installation technicians also install related equipment, such as fire alarm systems. This job title usually refers exclusively to installing home or commercial security systems and should not be confused with technician jobs at large security installations like military bases.
