Experienced Electronic Security Technician

Richmond Security, Inc. (RSI) | Central Virginia | On-Site

Position Summary

Richmond Security, Inc. (RSI) is seeking an experienced Electronic Security Technician to support our transformation into the region's most respected, full-spectrum security integrator. This position plays an important role in our 2026 mission: Commitment to Excellence.

RSI delivers *fully integrated security strategies *that combine physical security hardware, access control, video surveillance, and intrusion detection-a layered approach to protecting people, property, and critical assets.

The ideal candidate takes pride in quality workmanship, professionalism, and customer service. This role is more than turning screws and pulling wire-it requires technical competence, attention to detail, a positive attitude, and a commitment to delivering exceptional results for our clients.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Install, program, test, troubleshoot, and commission electronic security systems on commercial, government, and institutional projects.
  • Work effectively as part of a 2-3 person installation team while maintaining productivity, quality, and safety standards.
  • Complete assigned work within budgeted labor hours while adhering to RSI installation standards and project requirements.
  • Install and configure access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and related low-voltage security systems.
  • Identify and communicate project issues, deficiencies, or opportunities for improvement to supervisors and project managers.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and positive customer-facing attitude while representing RSI on client sites.
  • Follow all company policies, safety requirements, and applicable industry standards.
  • Participate in training programs, manufacturer certifications, and continuous professional development initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

  • 3-5+ years of experience installing and commissioning access control, CCTV, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Experience with one or more platforms such as Lenel, Brivo, Avigilon Alta, Avigilon Unity, Honeywell, Axis, Hanwha, or similar systems a plus.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of low-voltage wiring practices, installation standards, and electronic security system integration.
  • Professional communication skills and ability to interact effectively with customers, contractors, and team members.
  • Understanding of how physical and electronic security systems work together within a layered security strategy.
  • DCJS-compliant or eligible to become compliant.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Manufacturer certifications and formal product training.
  • Experience working in commercial, government, healthcare, education, or critical infrastructure environments.
  • Networking fundamentals including IP addressing, switches, and basic network troubleshooting.
