Job description

American Sound is looking to add an Apprentice Security Technician to our growing team in Covington! This apprentice-level role is ideal for candidates with 6 months to 2 years of experience in commercial security system installation and basic troubleshooting. The position offers hands-on fieldwork, opportunities for continued learning, and the chance to build technical expertise in a collaborative environment.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Performs installations of basic security, access control, camera, and alarm system components with minimal supervision
  • Can pull and terminate various types of cables (e.g., Cat5e/6, coaxial, alarm wire)
  • Basic configuration of system hardware under guidance
  • Performs basic system testing and verification
  • Identifies and resolves common installation issues
  • Completes basic paperwork and documentation
  • Communicates effectively with team members on basic issues
  • Troubleshoots basic system malfunctions with some guidance
Job Requirements:
  • Must have own vehicle
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • 6 months - 4 years' experience in security installation
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Solid understanding of hand tools and basic power tools
  • Demonstrates proficiency in basic wiring and termination techniques
