Oxford Casino Hotel, located in Oxford, Maine, is indeed part of Churchill Downs Incorporated and has seen significant growth since it opened in 2012. The casino boasts a variety of gaming options for our visitors, including 23 table games and over 900 of the latest and most popular slot machines.  The property also features 2 restaurants, the Ox Pub, and the Oxford Express, and a 107-room hotel which includes 6 well-appointed suites.

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for the shift operation of the Security department activities and personnel. Oversees the safety, security and assists of team members, guests and company during their assigned shift. Monitors the activities of all security personnel during their assigned shift to ensure compliance with department and company policies and procedure. Schedules, evaluates and monitors subordinate personnel. Assigns work, grants overtime (at security manager’s approval), early outs, disciplines team members and recommends wage increases and promotions. All Security officers report to security shift manager. All Security Shift Managers report to Security Manager. Must be 21 years of age and be able to obtain and maintain appropriate licensing from Maine Gaming Commission. Demonstrate Security enforcement ability and possess investigative skills and experience. Should have the ability to write legibly and coherently as required and communicate effectively with others.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversees the safety and security of all customers and team members and the company assets during their assigned shift.

Monitors the activities of all security personnel during their assigned shift to ensure compliance with department and property policies and procedure.

Promotes working environment in which subordinate personnel can perform assigned duties within established guidelines, procedures and laws.

Promotes and monitors the confidential treatment of all relevant information. Provides clear, concise incident reports, daily logs and documentation for shift activities and incidents. Investigates and follows up on all shift reports and activities.

Promotes effective communication to staff and management regarding property activities.

Perform duties of a subordinate as required.

Respond evaluate, provide first aid and notify emergency medical services to guest and team members that require in a medical crisis.

Act as a liaison between law enforcement and casino management.

Proactively responsible for conducting emergency drills within the security department.

Provides support and guidance to all casino departments and personnel as needed.

Must have a complete understanding of the gaming laws, state regulations, departmental policies and procedures and internal controls.

Mediate and solve problems for employees and guests and establish and maintain effective lines of communication not only on his/her shift, but throughout the department.

Must be able to identify operational and organizational opportunities and work with the security department upper management team to recommend, develop and implement sound solutions.

Attend all company required mandatory training classes when scheduled.

Responsible for key control and inventory for all sensitive keys.

Must have a complete understanding and operation of the keywatcher. Responsible for controlling access, entering / removing team members in to the keywatcher.

Must have a complete understanding of the SAFLOK program. Responsible for ensuring all locks programed to the SAFLOK are operational.

Responsible for replacing damaged keys and ensuring all inventory and logs are accurate in the spare key box.

Responsible for verifying shipments and inventory of cards, dice and chips.

Responsible for verifying proper key, card and dice destruction.

Ensures all visitors, vendors and contractors are logged and accounted for while on the Oxford Casino Property.

Responsible for shuttle operations in the absence of the Transportation Manager.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Previous Security Officer experience required.

Must have a complete understanding of the gaming laws, state regulations, internal controls, departmental policies and procedures.

Must have strong report writing skills.

Ability to deescalate conflict and provide conflict resolution

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS

The work requires some physical exertion, such as being able to stand and walk for extended periods of time, and also some climbing, reaching, pushing and pulling, and lifting objects. Must be able to lift 40lbs and be able to push and pull a wheeled cart weighing up to 300 lbs. May need to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The work environment is one with possible exposure to prolonged loud noise and sometime close quarters. The position also requires the ability to maintain composure and control during difficult or emergency situations. Position may require exposure to extreme weather conditions at times.
