Job description

Bering-Alaka`ina Holdings, LLC is looking for a Sergeant to support our government customer located in Kekaha, Hawai'i. Performs security duties protecting Government property and persons against sabotage, theft, accidental damage, fire, disorders, destruction and unauthorized removal. Serves as a Full-time Lead or Temporary Lead of an assigned shift. Performs Ready-for-Issue (Armory) duties and must complete armorer certification prior to performing these duties. DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES: * Provide armorer services, to include the issue, receipt, accountability, inventory, and maintenance of weapons, ammunition, and sensitive items contained with the Ready-for-Issue facilities.
* Reviews Desk Journals, Communications Logs, Inventory Sheets, Post Manning, and Pass downs
* Performs all duties normally associated with those of a Security Officer.
* Ensures that all Guard Personnel comply with PMRF Post Orders, guard mount instructions, and Security Chief instructions.
* Assists the Security Chief with last-minute scheduling to fill shift vacancies.
* Assists the Security Chief with training, when needed.
* When serving as a Shift Lead, acts as the Koa Lani point of contact to the government.
* Must be skilled in:
* (1) report-writing
* (2) gate and patrol procedures
* (3) traffic control
* (4) emergency actions/base closures
* (5) radio communications
* (6) crime scene prevention
* (7) physical security
* (8) loss & crime prevention
* (9) handling of classified information
* (10) weapons proficiency and qualification
* (11) weapons maintenance and functionality
* Performs other duties as required. Office conditions are varied and include physical tasks including lifting, pushing or pulling over 50 pounds (with a 2-person assist). Physical positions will include but not be limited to walking, standing or sitting for extended periods of time, and crawling, kneeling or cramped work. The environment will include customer contact, extended workdays, field assignments, sometimes in inclement weather. Feet: Besides walking and standing, a Sergeant uses his/her feet for activities such as the Physical Agility Test, driving/operating vehicles, self-defense, physical use of force, and running pursuit. Hands: Must be able to do simple grasping, firm grasping, and fine manipulation with both hands, to include maneuvering an all-terrain vehicle. REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION * High School or equivalent
* Possess a Hawaii State Driver's License.
* Candidate must maintain the following training certifications:
* Navy Security Guard Training Course
* Navy Position Qualification System (applicable certifications)
* Airfield Vehicle Operations Course
* CPR/1st Aid/AED
* ATV Operator
* Pistol and Rifle Qualifications
* Physical Agility Test
* Navy Armorer Certification REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: * Minimum of four (4) years experience in the security field.
* Two (2) years of security or law enforcement experience in a supervisory capacity preferred.
* Be cleared to perform duties through a medical exam and psychological testing
* Must be willing to work overtime when required or as assigned. REQUIRED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE: * Must be a U.S. Citizen.
* Must have a SECRET clearance with the ability to upgrade.
