Part-time position for the 2026-2027 school year
Reports to: High School Principal (or designee)
Niles Community Schools is looking for a dynamic Security Monitor. Highly-effective communication skills and professionalism required for daily interaction with a diverse workforce, student population, building administration and community.
Required Qualifications:
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff, and the school community.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
Essential Duties (non-prioritized):
  • Patrol and monitor hallways, toilet facilities, outside facilities, and other public and unsupervised areas of the school to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff and the security of the facility.
  • Assist with supervision in the breakfast and lunch periods and with morning arrival and afternoon dismissal of students.
  • Remove disruptive students from classes when needed
  • Encourage and ensure that students wear identification tags
  • Assist visitors with directions and secure proper identification - challenge unauthorized visitors and escort them to exits.
  • Display ethical and professional behavior in working with students, parents, school personnel, and outside agencies associated with the school.
  • Prevent illegal parking and loitering on school grounds according to district policies - check vehicles for appropriate parking stickers.
  • Assist in the investigation of illegal activities: search backpacks and lockers, for alcohol, weapons, drugs, and drug paraphernalia according to district policies.
  • Maintain positive relationships with students, parents, staff, and community.
  • Operate a two-way radio to communicate with school officer and other school personnel.
  • Comply with all school district policies and procedures
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding all student affairs
  • Other duties as assigned by Principal, Assistant Principal, Central Office Administration, and/or Superintendent of schools.
