Job description

Armed Security Officer - Military Base

**This position is located in Alpena, MI**

SCOPE:

Armed Security Officers are responsible for protecting the site’s building, grounds, assets, employees, tenants and visitors against criminal activity, accidents, and fires. Armed Security Officers in this region will protect one of the State's most critical infrastructures: our military bases! You will work on a team to control access to the facility at all entry/exit points and will perform vehicle patrols around the grounds as well.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be at least 21 years old and possess a high school diploma or equivalent education certification, such as a GED, per MCL 338.1067 §17(2).
  • Must have a current, valid Concealed Pistol License (CPL)
  • Must be able to pass a drug screening at the time of hire and randomly thereafter (including for marijuana). Since our company contracts with the federal government, we must comply to federal laws regarding the use of marijuana, regardless of whether it is used recreationally or medicinally.
  • May not have any felony convictions and must be able to pass a criminal background check in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.

COMPENSATION:

  • $20.00/hr

CURRENT OPENINGS:

  • 1 Part Time 2nd shift
  • 1 Part Time 3rd shift

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

As an Armed Security Officer at DK Security, your duties may vary depending on the site you are working. Officers will conduct foot and vehicle patrols dependent on the site location. Additional responsibilities may include:

  • Customer Relations - This site is highly reliant on customer relations with clients, resident families, and residents.
  • Access Control - Ensure only authorized individuals are allowed access to the site.
  • Camera Monitoring - Monitor CCTV for safety and security concerns.
  • Foot Patrol - Patrol the interior and exterior of the various buildings on site, keeping an eye out for security, safety, or maintenance issues.
  • Mobile Patrol - Patrol parking lots, roads, building exteriors and remote locations in a security vehicle.
  • Monitor Fire Alarms - Ensure fire alarms are working accurately.
  • Must provide excellent customer service when dealing with visitors, staff, and leadership.
  • Observes and reports activities and incidents at assigned client locations.
  • Guard posts – this may include building lobbies, gates, reception areas, control centers, etc.
  • Conduct periodic foot patrols of the assigned locations.
  • Ensure unauthorized persons do not enter restricted areas.
  • Ensure a safe and secure environment for all employees and visitors and will enforce policies and procedures for the site location.
  • Check for employee and vendor identifications.
  • Look for suspicious persons, packages, and activities.
  • Respond to emergency situations.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients, follow through with client requests, and keep operations managers updated on client communications.
  • Must follow and enforce site specific post guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned.
