Job description

We are looking for a Sr. Security Engineering Manager to lead a team of security engineers, developers, and technical program managers. Successful candidates for this position must have experience growing and coaching a highly qualified team of software and security engineers. You must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, be self-driven, and deliver high quality results in a fast-paced environment. You will invent mechanisms that scale to meet broad and diverse needs of Amazon customers and business teams.
You will have strong customer obsession, working to deeply understand the needs of your customers and relentlessly looking to improve their experience and make them more productive. The ideal candidate has strong technical knowledge in secure software development, experience designing and implementing security controls for multiple consumer product launches, high judgment to prioritize and address security risks, and experience holding high standards for security controls and work products.

Key job responsibilities
- Own the security architecture for products that will enforce and enable secure development of Amazon's healthcare services and continue to protect customer data.
- Partner with engineering leaders in Amazon Health Services to reduce the friction for builders to develop services that are secure by design.
- Work closely with your customers, partner teams, and foundational engineering teams to ensure the needs of your customers are clearly understood and effectively addressed.
- Drive adoption and integration of Amazon's paved path security solutions across subsidiaries.
- Recruit, coach, develop, and scale a team of world class security engineers, providing strategic and tactical oversight to maintain a motivated, innovative, and effective team.

This position within the Healthcare Security team represents a rare opportunity to get in with a fast-growing business. You will lead teams to design secure architecture and build layers of security controls to protect customer information and our infrastructure.
A successful candidate will bring deep technical security and software expertise, strong business acumen, and judgment. You will use your ability to define ground breaking products, hire and lead teams, and demonstrate an ability to work within a fast-moving environment to rapidly deliver services that have broad business impact. In this role, you will lead your team to partner with the engineering teams to deliver software services that are designed for security from the outset and launched with a high security bar. You will continue to raise the security bar of services in production and ensure that there are mechanisms and metrics to improve security.
You will define the right long-term security architecture partnering with our engineering leaders, and deliver innovative ideas to improve security across both internal and third-party services that we use to deliver the customer experience. You will need to be an exceptional organizational leader, who can hire, grow and retain a diverse and talented team of cybersecurity professionals to deliver this mission.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 10+ years of industry work with hands-on security engineering experience
- 10+ years of risk assessment and enabling organizations making security decisions experience
- 10+ years of team management and building (including coaching and mentoring) experience
- 10+ years of communicating technical concepts to a non-technical audience experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience applying threat modeling or other risk identification techniques or equivalent
- Experience architecting, securing, and operating Amazon Web Services
- 10+ years of engineering team management experience
- Experience with AWS
- Experience building software services and security controls in the healthcare industry

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
