JOB SUMMARY 

Serves as the primary security liaison for internal clients/partners, providing professional security consultation, guidance, and education to support informed decision-making around electronic and physical security enhancements across various applications. Develops and implement security solutions, strategies, policies, and procedures that protect personnel, intellectual property, and physical assets while ensuring business continuity and operational resilience. Conducts security and vulnerability assessments, identifies risks, and recommends effective mitigation measures. Builds and maintains strong partnerships with law enforcement agencies, corporate security organizations, and external stakeholders to strengthen security capabilities and response efforts. Demonstrates the flexibility and expertise to support all areas of Corporate Security Operations, contributing across functions as required to meet organizational objectives and professional development needs.

TECHNICAL/FUNCTIONAL KNOWLEDGE

  • Technical proficiency of Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) systems
  • General security knowledge and skills, including asset protection, investigations, standards, executive security, emergency preparedness and response
  • Knowledgeable of Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) and Access Control systems

  • A well-developed network of professional contacts in local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, as well as other corporate security departments
  • Ability to work well with minimal supervision as an individual contributor as well as in teams
  • Excellent communication skills (ability to effectively communicate at all levels, both oral and written; presentation skills; ability to present technical information to both technical/non-technical audiences)
  • Ability to assist with other departmental functions to include conducting investigations, conducting security assessments, and implementing security solutions to ensure compliance with federal regulations
  • Functionally cross-train with other team members so as to enhance bench strength of the Georgia Power Corporate Security team and ensure seamless operations at the highest level

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Applicants must successfully pass a pre-employment background investigation and physical and psychological evaluations
  • Ability to be licensed by the Georgia Board of Private Detectives and Security Agencies
  • Ability to successfully qualify with a semi-automatic handgun and shotgun on the Georgia Power Corporate Security firearms course
  • Ability and willingness to respond immediately, alone or as part of a Corporate Security team, in an armed capacity (company issued firearm) using necessary force to neutralize threats to the life of self or others in life threatening situations such as active shooter event
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time as needed
  • Available to work security details during storm restoration, including out-of-state assignments for extended periods of time 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as a single point of contact and provide security support and expertise for Georgia Power's business units statewide, including customer service organizations, generation and power delivery partners.
  • Develop strategies that are professionally designed and implemented so as to protect employees, intellectual property, and physical assets as well as critical business processes
  • Conduct security vulnerability assessments of company facilities
  • Develop and implement security solutions in a timely, collaborative and innovative manner that supports the needs of Corporate Security's business unit customers
  • Manage customer demands for service through third-party providers and alternative service delivery channels
  • Work closely with the Supply Chain organization during the procurement process for security services, to include pre-bid activities, scope of work, proposal reviews and contractor awarded projects
  • Work closely with Corporate Facilities and other key stakeholders / business units in the project management and implementation of networked electronic and physical security systems and devices.
  • Manage project timelines and security deliverables
  • Conduct security awareness training for internal business units
  • Functionally cross-train with other team members so as to enhance bench strength of the Georgia Power Corporate Security team and ensure seamless operations at the highest standards of excellence across all aspects of Georgia Power Corporate Security's mission to protect the company's personnel, physical and intellectual property, reputation and other assets.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

Reports to the Infrastructure Protection Manager of Georgia Power Corporate Security, along with other Security Business Unit Analysts.

This position has been identified as a role that will require the use of a Georgia Power fleet vehicle.  The following will be required if you are selected for this position:

  • Must have at least one year of verifiable driving experience (Must hold a valid driver's license for the class vehicle to be operated. Driving permits are not typically considered a valid driver's license). 
  • Must have no revocation of driving privileges within the 36 months prior to application, no convictions of major traffic violations (DUI, hit and run, reckless driving, etc.) within the 12 months prior to application, or any pending charges for a major traffic violation at the time of application.
  • Must consent to a continuous monitoring of your Motor Vehicle Record
