Job description

We are seeking a full-time Compliance Manager to oversee housing compliance programs and related matters for Brookland Manor, a residential apartment community located in Washington, DC. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with strong experience in Project-Based Section 8 housing, affordable housing compliance, HUD requirements, LIHTC, and property management operations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage housing compliance programs, including LIHTC, HUD, and Section 8.
  • Conduct audits, ensure adherence to HUD functions, and oversee EIV requirements.
  • Perform accurate income calculations and rent determinations.
  • Coordinate with the property management team to maintain compliance standards

Required skills and experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Compliance Manager in multi-family Project-Based Section 8 housing.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to multitask in a professional environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of the HUD 4350.3 Handbook, IRS Section 42 compliance, and multifamily property management concepts.
  • Experience with MOR audits and general HUD compliance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational abilities, and self-motivation.
  • Advanced math skills for accurate income and rent calculations.
  • Proficiency with Windows-based software and general computer literacy.
  • General accounting and budgeting experience.
  • Certified Occupancy Specialist (COS) or Certified Professional of Occupancy (CPO) certification preferred.
  • Experience with Yardi Affordable required.
  • Reliable transportation.
