What are Second Chance Remote jobs?

Second Chance Remote jobs are employment opportunities offered by companies that are open to hiring individuals with criminal records or those seeking a fresh start after past mistakes. These jobs are typically remote, meaning you can work from home or anywhere with internet access. Employers offering second chance opportunities believe in giving people the ability to rebuild their lives, often providing support, training, and flexible positions. Such roles can range from customer service and data entry to IT and creative work. Second chance remote jobs help break down the barriers to employment for those with non-traditional backgrounds.

What unique challenges might I encounter when working in a Second Chance Remote role, and how can I overcome them?

Second Chance Remote roles often involve supporting individuals with prior barriers to employment, such as past incarceration or significant career gaps. You may encounter challenges such as building trust with clients, navigating complex personal situations, and balancing empathy with accountability. Overcoming these challenges requires strong communication skills, patience, and a commitment to fostering a supportive, nonjudgmental environment. Collaboration with social services, employers, and team members is essential to provide comprehensive support and help clients succeed in their roles.

We are seeking a Mid-Level Commercial Real Estate Attorney to join a dynamic transactional team focused on commercial leasing and purchase/sale transactions across retail and commercial assets. This is a fully remote, flexible (30+ hours/week) opportunity offering meaningful deal exposure and the chance to work closely with experienced real estate attorneys on active, complex matters.
Responsibilities
  • Manage commercial real estate transactions from inception through closing and lease commencement, including deal tracking, closing checklists, and coordination of due diligence materials
  • Conduct comprehensive title and survey review, identify issues, and prepare clear, detailed title summaries with recommended resolutions
  • Draft, review, and revise key transaction documents, including:
    • Commercial leases (retail and office)
    • Purchase and sale agreements
    • Declarations, easements, covenants, conditions, and restrictions (CC&Rs)
  • Support all phases of leasing and acquisition transactions, including negotiation support and document coordination
  • Assist with retail redevelopment matters, including review of property approvals, restrictions, and deal-specific constraints
  • Coordinate deal deadlines and communicate effectively with attorneys, clients, and internal team members
  • Support active transactions in a second-chair role, working closely with senior attorneys on execution and closing
  • Assist with additional commercial real estate matters and special projects as needed
Qualifications
  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
  • 3-6 years of commercial real estate transactional experience at a law firm
  • Strong experience with:
    • Commercial leasing transactions
    • Purchase and sale transactions
    • Title and survey review (significant experience required)
  • Experience preparing or reviewing title summaries and resolving title issues strongly preferred
  • Retail real estate, restaurant, or outparcel transaction experience is a plus
  • Strong drafting, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple active matters and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable working independently in a fully remote, 30+ hour/week structure
  • Ability to function effectively in a second-chair/support role on transactions
Work Environment/Schedule
  • Fully remote position
  • Minimum 30+ hours per week required
  • Some schedule flexibility available, with required availability during core business hours for team collaboration, client coordination, and deal activity
  • Limited concurrent work may be permitted, provided it does not interfere with workload, deadlines, or firm responsibilities
Benefits
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance available while on assignment
  • Opportunity to work on sophisticated commercial real estate transactions
  • Flexible remote work environment
  • Exposure to high-quality deal work alongside experienced transactional attorneys
If you're looking for a high-quality transactional role with strong deal exposure, autonomy, and a remote structure that still keeps you in sophisticated commercial real estate work, we'd love to connect with you.
