Job description

  • Build and maintain a reliable pool of third-party carriers for customer and cold storage shipments.
  • Review daily orders in Microsoft Dynamics BC and assign carriers based on lane and capacity.
  • Manage dedicated high-volume lanes, including dedicated asset and/or drop-trailer programs.
  • Coordinate with Shipping to schedule carrier appointments and manage yard activity, including communication with Security.
  • Verify invoice accuracy and ensure timely carrier payment.
  • Manage cold storage relationships, including capacity planning and rate negotiation.
  • Resolve daily service and quality issues with carriers and cold storage partners.
  • Support Sales with on-time customer deliveries and inter-warehouse product movement.
  • Monitor freight and storage costs, balancing competitive pricing with service level as the top priority.
Physical Requirements
  • Work is performed in an office setting with a moderate noise level.
  • Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Occasional travel within North America.
Skills and Knowledge
  • Perform well under pressure
  • Strong communication skills (listening and speaking)
  • Understanding of transportation (equipment, time and distance, loading and unloading, and hours of service)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Comfort with data analysis
