Job description


Position Summary
Works under general supervision to perform various work assignments to include ordering, receiving, stocking and disbursement of supplies and materials necessary for the support of work activities at the Correction Center.
Pay Grade 41H
Minimum Qualifications
  • Two (2) years responsible work in receiving and stocking materials in a stockroom or warehouse setting and forklift certified; AND
  • High school diploma or possess GED.
  • PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Receives, stocks, and issues general warehouse and outside food warehouse supplies to authorized personnel.
  • Posts items from stock and maintain inventory on excel spreadsheets and quick books system.
  • Inspects goods for quantity and quality.
  • Supervises assigned inmate personnel.
  • Uses various techniques to clean laundry.
  • Develops and follow laundry schedule and follow-up on special order requests for timely submission and pick-up.
  • Responds with written and oral communications regarding laundry schedule and inventory inquiries.
  • Train and supervise inmate work-lines for laundry operations.
  • Prioritizes services when needed because of equipment failure and/or unusual events.
  • Maintains inventory of chemicals necessary to operate laundry equipment for proper operations.
  • May order supplies such as janitorial and replacement inmate bedding to ensure continued laundry operations.
  • Pick up and drop off at various units within Division.
  • Ensure cleanliness of facility at all times.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

KSAs
  • Knowledge of business arithmetic and business English and stockroom techniques.
  • Ability to maintain a system of records according to prescribed criteria.
  • Ability to allocate material and cross-file.
  • Ability to inspect goods for quantity and quality.
  • General computer knowledge with the ability to input and extract information.
  • Ability to communicate and maintain working relationship effectively with fellow employees and other departments.
  • Supervisory ability.
  • Ability to operate boxed truck with Tommy Lift (no CDL required)

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to climb a ladder and access roof tops.

Special Requirements
  • Must be able to function in a prison environment.
  • Must have a valid Tennessee driver's license or secure one as of employment date.
  • Must be able to work shift, evening, and on weekends, if required.
  • Must pass NCIC background check.
  • Will be required to pass physical and drug and TB screens.
