Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM

Position Type: Full-Time, On-Site

Reports To: Warehouse Manager, Patricia Worrell

Salary Range: $45,000–$55,000 annually, based on experience

About the Role

Star Children's Dress Company is seeking an IT Help Desk Specialist I to provide on-site technical support for our Virginia Distribution Center.

This is an excellent opportunity for an entry-level or early-career IT professional who enjoys troubleshooting, working directly with users, and developing their technical skills in a hands-on business environment.

The IT Help Desk Specialist I will serve as the first point of contact for day-to-day technology issues at the Distribution Center, supporting computers, printers, scanners, software, user accounts, and other technology used throughout the operation.

The ideal candidate is patient, organized, service-oriented, and comfortable working directly with employees who have varying levels of technical experience.


Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the first point of contact for day-to-day IT support requests at the Virginia Distribution Center.
  • Troubleshoot basic computer hardware, software, operating system, and connectivity issues.
  • Support Windows-based desktops and laptops.
  • Assist employees with Microsoft 365 applications, including Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel.
  • Troubleshoot printers, scanners, label printers, monitors, keyboards, docking stations, and other peripheral equipment.
  • Assist with basic network and Wi-Fi connectivity troubleshooting.
  • Set up and configure computers, monitors, printers, and other equipment for new and existing employees.
  • Assist with employee onboarding and offboarding, including workstation setup and user access according to company procedures.
  • Perform password resets and assist with basic user account and access issues.
  • Install approved software, updates, and peripheral devices.
  • Maintain accurate records of computers, monitors, printers, and other IT equipment.
  • Document technical problems, troubleshooting performed, and resolutions.
  • Follow established IT procedures and security policies.
  • Recognize issues that require higher-level technical assistance and escalate them appropriately.
  • Coordinate with senior IT personnel and outside technology vendors when necessary.
  • Follow up with employees to confirm that technical issues have been successfully resolved.
  • Assist with technology upgrades, equipment replacements, and other IT projects as assigned.
  • Help maintain organized IT equipment, supplies, replacement hardware, and cables.
  • Identify recurring technical problems and communicate them to management.
  • Provide professional, patient, and courteous technical assistance to employees throughout the Distribution Center.
QualificationsRequired
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of Windows computers and common computer hardware.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office/Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Strong interest in information technology and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve basic technical problems.
  • Strong communication and customer-service skills.
  • Ability to explain technical information clearly to non-technical employees.
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to document problems and solutions accurately.
  • Ability to work independently while recognizing when an issue should be escalated.
  • Reliable and able to work on-site Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
Preferred
  • 1–2 years of IT help desk, desktop support, computer repair, or related experience.
  • Associate degree, technical-school training, or coursework in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • CompTIA A+, Google IT Support, Microsoft, or similar entry-level IT certification.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft 365.
  • Familiarity with Active Directory or Microsoft Entra ID.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts including Wi-Fi, Ethernet, TCP/IP, and connectivity troubleshooting.
  • Experience working with printers, scanners, label printers, or warehouse technology is a plus.
  • Experience using a help desk or ticketing system is a plus.
  • Basic coding, scripting, or programming knowledge is a plus, but not required. Candidates with an interest in developing programming or automation skills are encouraged to apply.
